After the building was secured officers found the bodies of Janeera Gonzalez (20 years old) and Adrian Torres (21 years old). Witnesses told police they saw Torres shoot Gonzalez. Torres hid inside the college and was found dead with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators are still interviewing witnesses, but believe that the incident was a murder suicide. Both officers are expected to survive. The incident occurred around 2100 hrs when the two officers in an unmarked car were approached by 2 other vehicles. Suspects in the 2 approaching vehicles opened fire on the officers in the unmarked car. The two officers were one officer was shot in the arm and the second officer received a shotgun blast to the back. The two officers returned fire on the suspects. The officers were transported to Stronger Hospital. CPD believes that the officers were intentionally targeted. In a follow-up investigation the CPD seized a military-style rifle and a handgun believed to have been used in the attack. The CPD has arrested 3 people believed to be involved the shooting and the CPD is looking for several more.
