My conjoined department will expand to 41 team members with a budget of Vice President (previously Associate Provost), Compliance and Accreditation October 2015 June 2019 Western Governors University; Salt Lake City, Utah 0 In FY19, we received initial, decennial accreditation from CAEP with zero recommendations; launched new special education programs; created five-year compliance and engagement plans for each college; received the inaugural CH EA International Quality Group Quality Award; created templates of program-, state-, and college- level data for use with external audiences; and successfully changed administrative rules in Utah and Missouri. We assisted with document and policy creation for WGU's presidents? inclusion on the Whitehouse's American Workforce Policy Advisory Board. Our department grew to include advancement and engagement activities, and we obtained a donation for program development in health. The student body grew 16.76% with 34,132 graduates. The department included 28 team members with a budget of I became a committee member for CHEA where I evaluate agencies for their financial health, obtained certification as a compliance and ethics professional (CCEP), and received a leadership award from SWAE. In FY18, we received candidacy and initial, decennial accreditation from obtained approval from two states to establish named-state presences; submitted an initial programmatic study and hosted a visit by CAEP for our Teachers College; changed names of all programs in the Teachers College; and created service?level 1 I obtained credits (for professional development) toward a Juris Doctor (3 semesters) and a Master of Science in Accountancy (1 semester). The student body grew 20.76% with 27,171 graduates through the fiscal year. The department included 26 team members with a budget of $2.7M. I became a council member for ACBSP’s legislative committee, and I pushed for national recognition of an 80-credit baccalaureate degree. In FY17, we obtained decennial reaffirmation of regional accreditation, joined the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement, implemented a new strategy for monitoring and maintaining national compliance in highly regulated fields, added four new degree programs, and achieved a 18.79% growth rate in the student body while managing a team of 17 and a budget of $2.1M. In FY16, we obtained new state authorization approvals in 10% of the United States and sought approval from three additional agencies. We set up successful teams and processes to ensure successful decennial reaffirmations with NWCCU and CAEP. I reorganized a team of 17 individuals, creating entirely new job descriptions, to work more effectively and efficiently toward the goal of university compliance while managing a budget of $1.6M. In all, the university earned approval for two new named-state entities and two new degree programs while achieving a 10.46% growth rate in its student body (October 2015 through June 2016). ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE (CONTINUED) Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Services September 2011 – October 2015 South University; Savannah, Georgia ¨ In FY16, I assisted two (non-South University) EDMC campuses with obtaining regional accreditation approvals (NWCCU and HLC), and assisted with the required follow-up for each of the submitted change of control or ownership applications for campuses owned by EDMC. ¨ In FY15, I obtained approval from Boards of Nursing in three states, worked on a plan to ensure campuses have budgeted dollars in time to hire key program directors for high-growth programs, assisted two (non-South University) EDMC campuses with removing regional accreditation sanctions (On Notice with HLC and Show Cause from NEASC), and wrote and submitted change of control or ownership applications to HLC, MSCHE, NEASC, NWCCU, and WASC-accredited campuses owned by EDMC. South University obtained new programmatic accreditation approvals from CACREP, CAPTE, ACOTE, and ACF and launched 66 programs across its 16 campuses. ¨ In FY14, I wrote the strategic plan for program implementations per campus over the next five years, expanded the programmatic tracking for all online nursing approvals to assist in the expansion of South University’s online marketing efforts, procured ACBSP accreditation for the College of Business, assisted in the development of the new College of Theology and its novel first professional Doctor of Ministry program, earned Level VI accreditation from SACSCOC, and helped the institution endure a SACSCOC decennial reaffirmation visit with zero recommendations. Working collaboratively across multiple departments, I satisfied a high-level regulatory complaint that allowed operational advancement in a high growth state. South University launched 48 programs across its 15 campuses. ¨ In FY13, I worked to integrate the curriculum and policies of South University’s four Art Institute campuses following the merger approval by the US Department of Education. This resulted in a new catalog for the campuses. Working with the college deans, I secured CAPTE approvals across eight campuses, CIDA reaccreditation at one campus, ACPE and ABA approvals of interim reports for two campuses, and Board of Nursing approvals in two states. South University launched 94 programs across its 15 campuses (116% of plan). ¨ In FY12, I created a way to track new and transplanted programs to ensure approval prior to planned launch, orchestrated a mock regional accreditation visit to South University’s online operations in preparation for the 2013 submission of the decennial compliance certification, and obtained approvals for three new branch campuses. South University launched 53 programs across its 12 campuses. Educational Consultant January 2005 – August 2015 Kavlie Consulting ¨ I assisted two colleges with the initial accreditation process from a regional accreditor (SACSCOC)—one of which received zero recommendations from the visiting team, guided an international information security organization through the ANSI 17024 accreditation process, and assisted with the regional accreditation (HLC) process of two, separate inter-state institutional mergers in the Midwest. ¨ While managing a team of trainers across the United States, I wrote a training manual for college readiness as a part of a $250,000 TG Foundation grant; conducted training seminars on leadership, grant writing, and organizational development; and developed training materials for a $500,000 grant from the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Page 3 of 12 Kavlie ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE (CONTINUED) Director of Accreditation and Assessment September 2008 – September 2011 Moody Bible Institute; Chicago, Illinois ¨ I led the initial and reaffirmation processes for membership/reaffirmation by the Association of Theological Schools; managed a team which studied the financial, internal, and external feasibility of new projects and endeavors; and studied the improvement of shared governance. ¨ After receiving the Federal State Licensing Mandates (34 C.F.R. 600), I coordinated reaffirmation/licensure processes for six State Boards of Higher Education while managing all IPEDS submissions across each campus (as the keyholder); leading the assessment process of programs, degrees, and departments using institutional support; and liaising between the Institute and four regional, national, and programmatic accrediting bodies ¨ I studied potential globalization of the institution and any accreditation/licensure issues and gave a recommendation regarding an institutional merger which joined two institutions. The study required analyzing the effects of merging from state licensure and accreditation angles, applying for merger approvals, and documenting the due diligence process leading to the change requests. ¨ As the accreditation liaison officer, I prepared each of the three campuses and over a dozen additional teaching locations for six focused visits across three different states.
