He completed a Master of Business Administration from the University of Georgia in 1985 with an emphasis in Strategic Planning and Human Resource Management. In January 1997, Wayne completed the graduate program in finance from Colorado’s College of Financial Planning and is currently a Professional Financial Planner. In 1979, Wayne, along with his family, moved to Athens, GA. While Wayne worked on his MBA, he worked full time managing an award-winning KFC restaurant. After graduation, Wayne was promoted to corporate management in Atlanta, responsible for multiple units with annual revenue exceeding $10 million, 25 managers, and over 250 employees and including the famous “Big Chicken” in Marietta. After eight years in corporate management with RJR Nabisco, Wayne returned to Columbus in 1987 to direct the Financial Counseling Program and the Employee Assistance Program at the Bradley Center/Pastoral Institute. For eighteen years, Wayne served as Founder and Director of The Business Resource Center, which provides employee assistant services, financial counseling services, management training and development services, and organizational planning and development services to more than 150 organizations in Columbus and throughout the United States. Since 1987, Wayne has provided financial counseling and consultation to over 1,000 individuals and organizations, has taught money management workshops and financial planning seminars and has authored two books on financial issues: The Money Management Manual and $ecurity and $ucess. In 1998, Wayne designed, organized, and then served four years as the Director of the Center for Servant Leadership, an initiative by area organizations and institutions to develop the attitude and skills of servant leadership in managers, professionals, and community leaders. In 2000, Wayne developed and then launched House of Heroes, a joint initiative by local representatives of the Congress of United States, the US. Chamber of Commerce, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Department of Defense, Department of Veteran Affairs, and Hands On/City Cares of America. House of Heroes honors elderly or disabled military and public safely veterans and/or their spouses by providing repairs and improvements to their home. Since the beginning, over 1000 homes have been repaired and veterans honored in 18 States. For over 30 years Wayne has been involved in Healthcare issues. He spent eight years (1979-1987) with R.J.R. Nabisco as a purchaser of healthcare. From 1987 to present, he has been involved with purchasers, providers, payers, legislators, patients, and relatives to improve America’s healthcare delivery system. In 1996 he was selected to serve as State Legislative Chair and in 2000, he became a member of the National Legislative Committee of SHRM, where he focused on healthcare legislation. In 2004 he was asked to serve SHRM’s Comp and Benefits Panel as a healthcare expert, and in May of 2005, Wayne’s book, The Healthcare Solution, was published. In 2004, Wayne was appointed to the National Economic Policy Committee of the National League of Cities. In 2006, he was selected to serve on the National Human Development Steering Committee with a special focus on healthcare, education, employment and community issues and strategies. Wayne has been an elected official. He served as one of two city-wide members of City Council where he represented all the people of Columbus, Georgia. In 2002, he was appointed to the River Valley Regional Commission and was elected its Chair in 2006. As Regional Commission Chair, Wayne reported directly to the Governor and represented 16 Counties, including Columbus and over 450,000 Georgians. In 2009, Wayne received the prestigious Certificate of Recognition from the University of Georgia for his training in Municipal Government Management. Wayne is an ordained United Methodist Minister, having served appointments across Georgia since 1972 including Preston, Poulan, Valdosta, Athens, Atlanta, Columbus, and Lake Park. In July of 2013, Wayne was appointed the senior Minister of Liberty UMC in Macon, Georgia. Wayne is married and is the father of three adult children: Pamela, who along with her husband, Lt. Col.
