Working with the Office of the Governor, the Alaska State Legislation, the Municipality of Anchorage, local and federal law enforcement, public health, medical institutions, and the public to create and implement programs and processes to minimize the affects of polysubstance misuse in Alaska. Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) – State of Alaska Executive/Director/Manager, Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) 01/2019 to 08/2019 1 Responsible for managing and coordinating the process for restructuring and rebuilding the struggling Alaska Psychiatric Institute and creating a culture of professionalism and safety for staff and patients within the hospital. During my tenure, the number of patient beds rose from in the low twenties, to over forty with processes and personnel in place to grow the hospital’s final capacity of approximately eighty beds. While acting as the hospital’s Quality Improvement Director, Project Coordinator, Risk Manager, and Safety Officer, I was able to create a culture of safety for staff and patients while at the same time helping to bring the hospital out of a long-term licensing and certification crisis. Worked with the API Governing Board to assist in bringing the hospital out of licensing and institutional crisis. Developed policies and procedures for the hospital. Worked with over a dozen committees and working groups to create and maintain processes across the entire institution. Department of Corrections – State of Alaska Statewide Institutional Investigator Program, Criminal Investigations & Internal Affairs Investigation 10/2017 to 01/2019 Internal Affairs Investigator with the Department of Corrections responsible for successfully conducting internal investigations of all state-wide DOC employees for administrative violations, including, but not limited to correctional officers, medical and support personnel, as well as management personnel up to, and including, high level ranking administrative executives. Developed policies and procedures for the department and for various correctional institutions. Law Enforcement and Special Commissioned Officer with the Alaska State Troopers & the Department of Public Safety responsible for investigations of criminal activity at over thirteen correctional institutions throughout Alaska. Developed and implemented a Statewide program throughout the DOC network of institutions for over 100 officers to train and manage correctional officers as Institutional Investigators to secure evidence, investigate, and to assist in the prosecution of inmates for crimes committed within the institutions. Law Enforcement Officer – State of Alaska 10/1995 to present Currently the most commissioned police officer in the State of Alaska, holding law enforcement commissions from multiple State of Alaska law enforcement agencies. Created, managed, and responsible for the oversight and direction of the first Alaskan “Cops on Call” program for the State of Alaska Police Standards Council, which provides Alaskan police departments with part-time certified police officers. Responsible for creating, organizing, managing, and presenting large and sensitive investigations to legal authorities, including the State of Alaska and the U.S. Federal Court system. Responsible for creating, developing, and implementing the use of technology in a wide variety of areas, including developing the first in-car case management system and report writing program. Actively worked with various outside law enforcement agencies, including, but not limited to Alaska State Troopers, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the U.S. Secret Service, Internal Revenue Service, McLaughlin Youth Center, the District Attorney's Office for the State of Alaska, and the U.S. Attorney's office.
