November 1, 2019 To: The Honorable Governor, Brian P. Kemp Dear Governor Kemp, Thank you for offering the opportunity to the citizens of Georgia to apply for the soon to be vacated Senate seat of Johnny Isakson. Please review the attached resume and consider appointing me to this vacancy. I don’t envy you in having to review the hundreds of resumes of qualified candidates. I pray that you will receive the patience and discernment in order to make the right decision for the people of this great State of Georgia. I spent the early part of my childhood growing up in Detroit, Michigan. We moved to Georgia when I was about nine years old. I have always been active within my church, previous schools, community and work-place. My family espoused conservative values that have contributed to the man I have become today. I presently reside in Cumming, Georgia with my wife, Sandy and our two children ( -7 and 3). I have had the privilege of working for the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services for over 20 years. I worked my way from the front lines of working directly with families to my current role as the manager of our Social Services training unit and New Worker Training Academy. During these 20 years I have had the opportunity to travel to every county in the state and work with agency staff as well as to meet people within the community. I have seen firsthand not only the beauty of the state but also the beauty, strength and pride of the people of Georgia. However, I have also had the opportunity to witness and experience some of the not so pretty things as it relates to our people such as loss, discrimination, corruption and mis-use of power within our Government, etc… I have served on committees with both state and federal partners. I have taught classes and done presentations for large groups. My personal life outside of work has carried me to many parts of the country. I play piano in a pretty successful outlaw country/southern rock band. We have even played a couple of events for Congressman Doug Collins. (I love that guy by the way. He is from the North Georgia area where I live and highly respected as a friend and politician.) I have played on stages to a hundred people all the way to a few thousand. I also play the piano in my home church nearly every Sunday. I have had the opportunity to have lunch with former Governor Sonny Purdue and his family at the Governor’s mansion and have also had times in my life when I couldn’t afford a lunch. I have friends that are “bikers” and others that are “preachers”. I have many “conservative” friends but also others that are pretty “liberal”. I have learned to love the person and not their beliefs. I have shared these things with you not to boast, but to give you a glimpse of the type of person I am. I do my best to be a good Christian man, husband, father and friend. I have had experiences and relationships with a very diverse group of people. I feel comfortable around all types of people and in many settings. I may not have as much formal “political” experience as some of your other applicants, but I have the heart and desire to serve the people of this great state and to represent us on a national level that will help our state and country to come together as one, to heal divisions and become a healthy and prosperous place that will give our children a better tomorrow. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, Jason Sauls Jason T.
