Sr. Augusta, Georgia 30904 My years of service with former Congressman Doug Barnard, Jr. (10th District, Ga) provided an excellent training platform and service background to ful?ll needs of Georgians needing a representative in the US. Senate who will service and represent their needs in our Nation?s capital. The diversity of needs met and problems resolved for the constituency of the district during my tenure is forever imprinted in my DNA. The following are all reasons, but certainly not an exhaustive list, I?m submitting my name for consideration: help correct legislatively current and potential future problems in the State and nation to meet current and future challenges; to help create both immediate and ?Jture opportunities for our citizens; initiate and be part of positive legislative efforts to enhance the quality of life in Georgia, the United States and the world; to not sit idly by and allow things to happen without trying?just my making calls and writing letters is not enough. The assistance I provided to Veterans and farmers in the district is forever one of my greatest sobering achievements as well as assisting small business owners with their challenges with the federal bureaucracy. Assisting communities with their applications for federal funding was critical to a community. There were many opportunities to resolve issues and each one was as important as the next. Along with my efforts, the entire congressional staff took great pride in our work for the Congressman assisting those in the district with the challenges they were having with federal agencies. Jessica is highly motivated to deliver top results. She is lauded for her ability to find commonality, tact, credibility, dedication, and empathy. She is highly perceptive and effective at collaboration with persons with diverse interests. Her approachability, empathy, and adaptability have made her a senior go-to resource to solve complicated strategic, tactical, financial, and regulatory conflicts. Raised in Fort Valley and Macon, Georgia, Jessica experienced both the financial and life balance issues associated with being raised by a single mother, while also thriving in a large family village of public educators, farmers, and government servants. She learned early the importance of legal issues as she grew up with a law professor mother and the importance of public service from her broader set of relatives who served as a U.S. Congressman, Chief of Staff to Senator Sam Nunn, multiple Georgia State Senators, a current Georgia State Representative, a current District Director for the Board of the Georgia Farm Bureau, and a Federal Judge for the Northern District of Georgia, who previously served as a judge on both the Superior Court and Georgia Court of Appeals. During her leadership tenure, the organization’s volunteer base expanded by 25%, and new community partners were added. This resulted in Steps to Success being named “Committee of the Year.” Also, while in New York City, Jessica was one of five recipients out of 2600 young professional women awarded the selection of “Woman to Watch” – who are described in this way: "Women to Watch motivate. They are mentors and leaders. They give their all, go the extra mile, think outside the box and step up to the plate. Beyond the clichés, they make experiences meaningful for others, accept less-than-glamorous jobs cheerfully and lead by example (whether serving in traditional leadership positions or not). Women to Watch bring passion, charisma, good humor and strength of character to their roles and activities." Since leaving the private sector, Jessica has continued working with individuals across a variety of generations and experience levels but can now focus on helping others. She continues to champion driving change through public service and making Georgia, the United States, and the world all better for future generations. Kemp 206 Washington Street Suite 203, State Capitol Atlanta, GA 30334 United States November 17, 2019 Kellie Lavoie is a dedicated Georgian that has spent her life serving others. First and foremost, she is a mother to her three grown children and a grandmother to her wonderful grandson, By trait Kellie is a Nurse and has been in the medical field since 2008. As an ICU and ER Nurse Kellie cared for those who were most in need. She invested in people that she had never met, and without question, saved lives. As Kellie reflected on her career, and considered her family, she decided to take a step back and find a more administrative role. Kellie accepted an offer from the Department of Community Health as a Nurse Surveyor. Kellie took the position and with full force succeeded in the role. She recently accepted the position of the Acute Care Training Coordinator and enjoys helping other surveyors become an advocate for Georgians across the state. As a Nurse Surveyor Kellie traveled the state of Georgia to investigate complaints and claims on issues such as abuse, neglect, provision of care, and death. She would also inspect treatment facilities to make sure that they were compliant with the State and Federal Regulations regarding patient care. Kellie took on a similar role with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities and investigated claims of abuse and neglect. She learned valuable skills in both roles and had to actively interview and speak with people of all walks of life. Kellie is passionate about nursing and is not looking to become a career politician. She is looking to initiate change and add value to the State. She has no issue with change, however, Kellie believes we have lost so much as a country and have strayed away from some important conservative values. Taxes in our country and state are a hot button issue and are something Kellie feels strongly about. She believes that we need to become more responsible about our spending and consider where those “dollars” come from. They come from our family, friends, neighbors and fellow Georgians. Kellie respects Governor Kemp’s ability to represent the “the everyday citizen” and believes that people should be represented by more leaders with this outlook. Not career politicians, but real people who have not lost their way in the dark political arena that Washington represents most often. Kellie believes in the idea of the “the everyday citizen” and is one. She pays her bills and lives a very normal life. Not rich, not poor, but middle class. She has overcome the ups and downs that life provides and enjoys her life with her Husband and family. She has been a mother, a nontraditional college student, and an upstanding citizen. The one thing that set her apart is that Kellie is not for sale. She has strong ethics, the ability to talk to all types of people, and the mindset to hear all sides before coming to a decision. Kellie cares for Georgia and its people and is excited about the opportunity to represent her own. Not as a career politician but as a regular Georgian who understands it’s the people that make this state great! There is a growing movement to instill in our youth that the concept of words and phrases such as patriotism, devotion to country, and national pride are the words of extremists. Our children need to know the great history of our country and the sacrifice that was made to make us a country unlike any other. • Protecting Georgian’s Tax Dollars We need to set our State apart by being a Georgia that responsibly values the tax dollars of hard-working Georgians. Our citizens acutely feel the financial pain of taxation, and as such, we should acutely feel the responsibility when we allocate their tax dollars. We need to remember that those dollars represent time away from their homes and loved ones. They represent hours of hard work. • Immigration We need to ensure that Georgia does not become a sanctuary state for illegal aliens. Illegal immigration impacts the economy and safety of all Georgians. We are a country of laws, and as elected official we need to be unwavering when ensuring the law of the land is upheld. That includes assisting the Federal government in enforcing our immigration laws. • Second Amendment Rights We need to ensure that the rights of Georgians are upheld. Currently, the Second Amendment in this country is under attack. If gun rights are taken away or restricted, our personal rights are then taken away or restricted. The progressive left is pushing for a gun control agenda that leaves only the government in control of guns, thereby striping Americans of their rights. By law, felons are not allowed to own guns. Criminals wanting to commit crimes do not buy guns legally. Instead of looking for ways to repeal and replace the Second Amendment, thereby, removing the guns from the hands of law-abiding citizens, we need to address the cultural sickness that has befallen this country. This can only be achieved on a local, state level. • Religious Freedom for All Religions Additionally, we need to protect the rights of Georgians to practice their faith openly and without fear of retribution. Christian business owners have found themselves faced with aggressive hostility because of their faith-based convictions. Christian business owners are now being targeted solely because of their faith. This is a blatant attempt to infringe on their First Amendment rights. It is imperative that while protecting the right of the LGBT community, we remain cognizant of rights of those within the Christian community. • Advocate for the Innocent and Vulnerable Finally, as Georgians, we need to protect the rights of the most innocent and vulnerable. Georgia and Georgians need to continue to lead the way in recognizing the importance of life. We need to be voice for those that cannot speak from themselves. The progressive left would have people believe that an unborn child is not a person. Georgians need to send a clear message that our values cannot and will not be influenced by Hollywood or any other outside entity. KELLIE J. For the last 15 years I have been employed by a global Fortune 500 transportation company. I began my career with this company as a rental agent and moved up to the level of service manager overseeing the repair facilities of several locations. My first experience in management was in the field of food service for over 20 years. Thru these work experiences I have gained invaluable knowledge in workflow, budgeting, customer service, labor and human resource requirements among other skills. I look forward to using these skills with my next employer. This is attributable to my drive to ensure all available equipment was clean and mechanically sound. Ensuring that the customers that I rented to were completely satisfied with their experience was my top goal. Due to this work ethic I was asked to take a newly created customer service representative job with the shop. I was responsible for bringing a new insight and order to the workflow for the shop. Previously a 'lead tech' handled the job assignments and scheduling. The facilities vehicle maintenance index and profitability attained a higher level over three years that I was in that position. Due to these efforts I was promoted to the position of shop supervisor. There along the customer service representative set up new communication protocols with our customers. The required maintenance indexes and profitability continued at a high level for the next three years and I assumed a service manager position with responsibilities of 4 outlying locations. I achieved high reviews for bringing these shops to a higher profitability and achieving new high marks for the maintenance indexes from their previous history. Since then, the first phase of the redevelopment of Smyrna’s downtown district was completed in August 1991. The Municipal Services building was completed and occupied in September 1996; the Public Safety/Jail facility was completed and occupied in September 1997. Also completed is the new Fire Station headquarters on Atlanta Road, a replica of the old Smyrna train depot, which is the home of the Smyrna Museum, and the restored Aunt Fanny’s Cabin, which serves as the City’s welcome center. The Smyrna Market Village, the final phase of the 15-year master plan, opened with great success in October of 2002. In 2006, after a two-year process, approximately 70 percent of apartments properties identified as suitable for redevelopment in Smyrna are have/and will be complete. Between 2006 and 2009 redevelopment of the former privately owned Brawner psychiatric facility and grounds took place under his guidance. Now known as Taylor-Brawner Park and Brawner Hall, this example of quality public passive park space and facility rehabilitation and adaptive reuse as office and event space is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places, along with Taylor-Brawner House. Plans for the property at the intersection of Atlanta Road and Spring/Concord for the site of the former shopping center known as Jonquil Plaza began construction in early 2016 with coordinated tenant development with the former Belmont Hills Shopping Center site at the intersection of Atlanta Road and Windy Hill Road. Now known as The Village at Belmont / The Shops at Belmont and Alta at Belmont, the new mixed-use development is expected to be substantially complete in September of 2016. The Belmont area redevelopment, under Bacon’s leadership, includes the addition of the new Smyrna Elementary School (a Cobb County Schools facility) along with other connectivity and transportation improvements along the corridor. Most recently under Bacon’s leadership, the Smyrna Vision Process - a 10-year citizen-driven plan and process for community growth and cultural development - began and has moved into the implementation phase. Notable advancements in the process include the creation of the Smyrna Arts & Cultural Council which is independent of municipal government and remarkable gains in community involvement in the public schools within the Smyrna area. Bacon is involved in a number of civic organizations, including the Cobb Chamber of Commerce Smyrna Division where he served as President from 1993-94, Chairman of the Downtown Smyrna Development Authority, the Smyrna Business Association, Cobb County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, past member of the Atlanta Regional Commission, Cobb-Marietta Coliseum and Exhibit Hall Authority, Cobb Water Authority, member of Smyrna American Legion Post 160, Campbell High School Advisory Council and former member of Argyle Elementary School Advisory Council. He is also a member of the Georgia Municipal Association, is a past president of the Cobb Municipal Association and was the recipient of the 1993 Georgia Municipal Association Community Leadership Award. The Marietta Daily Journal selected him as the Cobb County 1997 Citizen of the Year in January 1998. Through his leadership, the Urban Land Institute has recognized Smyrna nationally for its downtown revitalization and in 1997 received the National Award for Excellence of a Public Project. Mayor Bacon received the 1999 Martin Luther King, Jr. award by Campbell High School. He also received the 2001 Citizen of the year award from the Smyrna Area Council of the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce. In 2004, Mayor Bacon received the Liberty Bell award from the Cobb County Bar Association for community service that has strengthened freedom. The Smyrna Rotary Club awarded Mayor Bacon with the title of Smyrna's Outstanding Citizen in December 2006. In 2015, Mayor Bacon was awarded the 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award by Campbell High School for his tireless efforts on behalf of the students and the school in step with redevelopment of Smyrna - making strides for continuous improvement and helping Campbell High to be a great place for all students to excel. Bacon is retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 40 years, serving as Postmaster of the Smyrna Post Office at the time of retirement. Mayor Bacon was born 1948 at Marietta Hospital (now Promina Kennestone) in Marietta, Georgia to Arthur T. Bacon and Dorothy Moseley Bacon. He attended Smyrna Elementary School and graduated from Campbell High School in 1966. He attended DeKalb College and Chattahoochee Technical College and served in the Georgia Air National Guard from 1966 to 1970. He has two children and four grandchildren . Bacon has two sisters, of Smyrna, of Smyrna and one brother, of Kennesaw. I found you to be inspiring with your genuineness and sincerity. It gives me hope for our future with so much going awry in our current political landscape and dysfunctional government. After much deliberation and introspection, I have decided to ask for you to appoint me to the vacancy of Senator Isakson’s seat and represent the great state of Georgia in the United States Senate. I would be doing so at a great personal and professional cost as an owner of a roofing and construction company in Cumming, (ProActive Exteriors) founded in 2007, as well as husband and father of two young children ages six and eight. I am involved with nearly aspect of the day to day operations of my company, and, I understand that would cease to be for the time I am serving the citizens of Georgia, and this country. I draw inspiration from our founding fathers who walked away from their working farms and businesses to serve as representatives of the people, then, when their terms were done, return to their homes and resume their lives. I understand I would be subjecting my family to unwanted attention, and, myself to public scrutiny and ire from those who ideologically oppose our Judeo-Christian values. But, I am not one to back down from confrontation pertaining to my convictions. My father, a retired Lt Colonel after serving 30 years in the Army, taught me at a young age, that if you don’t stand up for your values, then, you have no values at all. I see an extremely diversified field of applications submitted thus far. Many people with grander life achievements, political backgrounds, and accomplishments within their communities. I am but a simple businessman from humble roots growing up in Peachtree City, Georgia. While most of my classmates went on to learn at colleges and universities, I went to work learning business in the real world. Getting my hands dirty along the way working my way up the corporate ladder to positions normally reserved for those with MBA’s, etc. I was getting paid while learning my craft and tools needed to succeed in business. I left that corporate world shortly before the worst economic downturn our country had seen in the modern era. And, I thrived in the construction industry in a time when many were going under. ProActive Exteriors has done (double digit) millions of dollars of business in home restorations since then. My company is highly respected in the communities I serve. I know this is not a resume in any traditional sense. I’m not a traditional guy. But, being a business owner for more than a decade, I’ve had no reason to create a resume. While I would give the utmost respect to my senior senators in the upper house, I would by no means intimated, or, cow down in anyone’s presence. I am my own man who would vote based on my core beliefs and convictions. I consider myself an effective orator and strong ability to motivate and inspire with passion and energy. We are facing an ideological Armageddon in our nation right now. It would be an honor to be a foot soldier in this crusade. I feel this appointment’s qualifications can be found with the following stances and beliefs that I have. I believe they represent the majority of my fellow Georgians. I’ll name a handful but, would be more than happy to discuss any and/or all views I have on a given issue. • Right to life • Second Amendment rights and protections • Smaller government • Strong military • Constitutionalist Judges confirmed • Securing the US border and immigration reform I appreciate you taking these applications and have every confidence you will select the best person for the job that represent the values I know you and I both share. Since this is a publicly posted document, I will not list references or ancient work history here, but, certainly would upon request and provide names of locally respected religious and business leaders, along with other small business owners and notables in our community. God Bless you and God Bless America! Seth Peters
