The San Diego County Sheriffs Department is in receipt of your request dated and received
August 5, 2019, requesting records pursuant to the California Public Records Act (CPRA).
Specifically, you request specific emails sent to or from Sheriffs employee Whitney
Buckingham from August 5, 2018 to August 5, 2019.
The Sheriffs Department ran a search for all Sheriffs Department emails fitting your criteria for
records sent to or from Whitney Buckingham from August 5, 2018 to August 5, 2019.
The Sheriffs Department identified one responsive, non-exempt, non-privileged email
containing ten attachments. Please find responsive records attached.
Records relating to personnel, medical, or similar files, the disclosure of which would constitute
an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy, are exempt from disclosure. Cal. Gov't Code §
6254(c). Additionally, records of intelligence information or security procedures, records of a
law enforcement investigation, or any investigatory or security files compiled by a law
enforcement agency are exempt from disclosure. Cal. Gov't. Code § 6254(f); Haynie v. Superior
Court, (2011) 26 Cal. 4th 1061 , 1071-72. Thus, emails containing these records or information
are exempt.
Additionally, the Sheriffs Department identified three First Alert emails. First Alert is a
payment based subscription service. These copyrighted records are prohibited from release
pursuant to California Government Code section 6254(k). Please contact the Sheriffs
Department if you would like to set up a time to view these documents.
