School Threat Investigation
Florence KY – Two IGNITE Institute students are in the custody of the Boone County
Sheriff’s department after alleged threats against the school were reported. The
students were arrested yesterday. One is from Boone County, the other is from Kenton
County. The IGNITE administrative team is cooperating with investigators. We take
these threats seriously. We have a no tolerance policy for this kind of behavior. The
safety of our students and staff is our priority. School did resume today on the normal
schedule.
No further information about this will be coming from school officials because the case is
now in the hands of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.
Mental health is a very important part of the learning and maturing process and an
important part of the education curriculum. Mental health issues are at the very root of
these behaviors. All of our schools participate in SEL (Social Emotional Learning) classes
for all students. Meaning all students participate unless the parents/guardians object.
We all also participate in PBIS Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. And we
provide mental health therapists at our schools. When the issues get this bad our
therapists ask that they be seen at an advanced level outside our schools.
