GENERAL ELECTION FOR H, Um H, - MIDLAND COUNTY, mm: ADDITIONAL ORDER TO OPEN THE BALLOT BOXES FROM THE NOVEMBER 5, 2018 GENERAL ELECTION AND COUNTY THE BALLOTS Having received and considered additional information discovered? during the opening of ballot boxes on December 12, 2019, and having received no objection from any of the parties involved with the opening of ballot boxes and counting of ballots on that date, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED AS FOLLOWS: 1. The Midland County Elections Administrator is authorized to temporarily suspend the opening of ballot boxes and counting of ballots until 8:00 am. on Monday, December 16, 2019, or as soon thereafter as possible, in the Commissioners Courtroom or adjacent offices and rooms at the Midland County Annex at 2110 North A Street, Midland, Texas. At that time the Elections Administrator shall open the remaining ballot boxes and conduct a manual count of the total numb er of ballots in each box using a sufficient number of volunteers to complete the task in one day, or as soon thereafter as is possible. Upon completion of the count, all ballots are to be returned to the box from which they were removedlocked and/ or sealed as required by law. All interested persons may be present to observe the Opening. 2. The Midland County Elections Administrator is authorized to open the newly discovered locked and sealed ballot box that was found in the Midland County Elections Of?ce on the afternoon of December 12, 2019, at 8:00 am. on Monday, December 16, 2019, or as soon thereafter as possible, in the Commissioners Courtroom or adjacent of?ces and rooms at the Midland County Annex at 2110 North A Street, Midland, Texas. Upon opening the box, the Elections Administrator will determine whether the box contains any ballots ??om the November 5, 2019 election. If the box does not-?contain ballots from the November I 2019? election, 77 the Elections Administrator will re?seal and/ or re?lock the box. If the box does contain ballots from the November 5, 2019 election, those ballots are to be counted along with the other ballots from that election. Any interested person may be present to observe. . The Midland County Elections Administrator is authorized to access digital copies of the ballots from the November 5, 2019 election and to compare these ballots to the physical ballots contained in the boxes. This will be done by or under the supervision of quali?ed representatives of (Election Systems Software, This process should begin with the ballots from the Elections Office early voting location and may continue with other voting locations as determined to be necessary. During this process, the employees and volunteers are authorized to separate the ballots within a box by precinct. If this process takes more than one day, the ballots are to be secured in the box from which they were taken, and the box may then be reopened when the pro CCSS . . The Court further orders the Midland County Elections Administrator to retrieve any documents that were erroneously placed in any of the boxes. Immediately thereafter, the Midland County Elections Administrator shall make a copy of any retrieved documents, and then place the original in a sealed envelope with date and identity of the election and preserve the documents for the period required by the Texas Election Code. . 318TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT -- mu
