Shots Fired Shootings Overview POLICE .DATA-DRIVEN January 10, 2020 CITYWIDE SHOTS FIRED & SHOOTINGS: YEAR-END There was an overall 6% (+19) increase in shots fired incidents in 2019 when compared to 2018. There were +2 additional shots fired incidents (property damage/casings located), +12 non-fatal shootings, and +5 fatal shootings compared to 2018. SEATTLE POLICE DEPARTMENT SHOTS FIRED BY PRECINCT: 2018 & 2019 East, Southwest, and West precincts saw a reduction in shots fired incidents in 2019 compared to 2018. SEATTLE POLICE DEPARTMENT NORTH PRECINCT 2019 SHOTS FIRED North precinct saw an 18% (+9) increase in shots fired incidents when compared to 2018. Incidents peaked in May 2019 and most occurred along Aurora Ave N. SEATTLE POLICE DEPARTMENT SOUTH PRECINCT 2019 SHOTS FIRED South precinct had a 20% (+23) increase when compared to 2018. The biggest increases were in the Rainier Beach, Brighton/Dunlap, and New Holly MCPPs. There were also 3 repeat incident locations in the South precinct.
