Here are the first set of deliverables that you will need to begin the acceptance process of the IDOT Replica // Chicago Region model. There are two reports attached to this email: - Chicago2018_Fall_Thursday - Chicago2018_Fall_Saturday Each of the documents shares a similar style. You'll find numerous graphs and choropleths, along with each acceptance criteria title, the actual value, the lower value, and the upper value. Additionally, you'll find summary information like a map of sensors, trip generation numbers, and a nice consolidated view of all criteria and their status. Note: We are still processing Winter 2018/2019 data and will deliver that acceptance report as soon as it is available. You'll notice that a couple of criteria weren't met - please review internally and let me know when you are ready for a deeper conversation with the Replica team. Perhaps on next Tuesday's status call. In terms of the application, we are preparing the model for access. I'll have an update on when you will be able to create accounts shortly. As Sidewalk Labs’ work in Toronto has intensified and Replica’s growth has continued, it made sense to formally separate the too entities and allow each to be uniquely focused on their own work. As of this week, Replica the product has become Replica the company. Sidewalk Labs will continue to be an important partner and shareholder in Replica. We have the ability to tap into and collaborate with both Sidewalk Labs and the broader Alphabet family as needed. Most important, our work continues to be very much at the heart of Sidewalk Labs mission — accelerating urban innovation. Before making the news public, we wanted to share with you, our customers and partners. We wouldn’t be in this position without your belief in our work and willingness to partner on a new approach to understanding the movement of people and goods. Our primary goal remains unchanged — build a product that helps you build the very best cities. Outside of new email addresses, nothing will change as it relates to our work with you. You will continue to interact with the same team and same product. In fact, as a stand alone company, we now have the ability to hire more people and add capacity more quickly. If you have any questions at all, I am happy to schedule time to discuss over the phone or happy to answer over email. I've shared this with you, the two primary points of contact at IDOT, please feel free to share with others at IDOT as you see fit. I was viewing the onboarding sessions as more of a demo by Nathan with questions and answers. If these sessions are really intended to be hands-on training for using the tool then we might need to re-think things. CMAP has a limited ability to set up laptops for people to use -- a maximum of 10, if they are all available. That would mean we really need a smaller audience for the initial session, and there may be some performance slowdown with multiple laptops accessing Replica through Wi-Fi. So the question is, how critical is it that the attendees have direct access to Replica? Craig From: Ostdick, Holly A Sent: Wednesday, September 25, 2019 4:32 PM To: Craig Heither ; Hersh Singh Cc: Hector-Hsu, Jessica ; Runkle, Ken Subject: Acceptance Criteria Requests I spoke with Nathan. He said it will take 24-48 hours to produce our requests. I told him Hersh was going to be out of town and he said 90% by end of the day tomorrow…. We confirmed 10/15, 10/16, and 10/17 are fine and is planning travel. The City of Chicago also indicated their available for those days and prefer the 15th, 17th, then 16th. Based on this, why don’t we plan City of Chicago and CMAP on the 15th, RTA, CTA, Metra, IDOT – Chicago office on the 16th, and Pace and IDOT D1 on the 17th. I asked Audrey to send the latest version of her blog to me and I will share it with the group and let her know she should plan on attending one of the onboarding sessions. Nathan indicated that it would be ideal if everyone could have a laptop or if the session could be held in a computer lab. He said he needs the e-mail domain of the agencies that will be participating and that will allow them to approve log ins automatically for those entities. For example “cmap.illinois.gov” “rtachicago.org” “Illinois.gov” I think that is all I have as of now. These sessions are designed to be interactive and fun. Each participant receives a worksheet with instructions on how to create an account and then proceeds through numerous exercises designed to teach new users how to navigate through the reports and Explorer interface, gathering insights along the way. Replica staff proctors the entire experience, floats through the audience, and helps everyone complete the game. We've found these kinds of sessions to be much more successful than traditional demos. That being said, we're happy to run through as many sessions as we can. Any suggestions on how we could accomplish this kind of format? Ideally each individual has their own work station, but if we have to double up, that's certainly an option. Thanks, Nathan On Thu, Sep 26, 2019 at 9:15 AM Craig Heither wrote: Holly, I included Nathan on this email as well. Here’s a thought on logistics… Plan A: I could drive to Schaumburg on Wednesday after the METRA on-boarding session and spend the night there. The part of your team needed for District 1 could take the METRA Milwaukee District West Line (Chicago to Elgin/Big Timber) on Thursday morning. If you catch the 2203 train at 6:21 am, you’d arrive at Schaumburg station at 7:18 am (the 2205 train at 7:12 am arrives in Schaumburg at 8:02 am). I’d pick you up at the station and drive you to District 1. Plan B: The part of your team needed for District 1 would ride with me to Schaumburg on Wednesday after the METRA on-boarding session. They would need reservations to spend the night there (I’m planning on the Hampton inn). We’d then drive to District 1 in the morning. Plan A would not require a change in your hotel arrangements. Let me know your thoughts on this… you may have a Plan C better than mine above… but I will go ahead and make reservations for me in Schaumburg for Wednesday night. Also, I am not sure we have a computer lab set up for this. If we do, I am not sure of its availability on such short notice. This would need to be coordinated through Justin Potts who I cc’d here. As far as training or on-boarding (another transit reference?), how long would it be? If we do have a training room, I am not sure how many it will hold. Maybe a solution would be to do as a webinar? After we visit Pace on Tuesday afternoon, I will drive into the city and I have a room at the Union League Club for Tuesday evening 10/15. After our Wednesday at RTA, CTA, and METRA, I will drive out to Schaumburg and will stay at the Homewood Suites on Wednesday evening 10/16 to be in town for District 1 on Thursday See the email below for options for covering D1 in Schaumburg. Let me know… Ken From: Runkle, Ken Sent: Wednesday, October 9, 2019 8:11 AM To: Nathan Preheim Cc: Ostdick, Holly A Subject: FW: Replica Nathan, It appears we will need to divide and conquer on Thursday… as you can see by the list in the email below, IDOT District 1 in Schaumburg is looking for 3 sessions that day, yet there also is a session scheduled in the city that morning with the City of Chicago (about 10 attendees). What a week! We had such an enjoyable time canvassing north-eastern Illinois! With the absolutely best host we could have hoped for. Ten great sessions across multiple agencies. We ended up with close to 200 new users! In terms of next steps, all calibration reports have been updated based on feedback provided by stakeholders. You can find those documents here: http://help.replicahq com/en/articles/3297920-chicago-calibration-reports Please review and let me know if you have any questions. We have granted several consulting firms access. I actually had a call with Susie from Nelson\Nygaard last week. She's working with Pace to evaluate potential bus routes from Joliette to approximately 20 different employment areas. A perfect use case for Replica! I walked her through how she could use Explorer to get exactly what she was looking for. Currently, all Nelson\Nygaard employees have access - their email domain has been whitelisted. The language of the contract states that any/all public agencies within the jurisdiction can access Replica. In the short term we are allowing approved consultants access - and we're relying on our partner agencies to let us know which ones are sanctioned. In the longer term, we will likely have some kind of formal relationship with each consultant. Don't know exactly what that looks like right now. It'll take us awhile to figure that out, so in the meantime, we encourage access! How's that sound to you? It's been 3 weeks since I provided an update on the status of the acceptance rework items that you sent over. While we were updating the acceptance document we discovered that the way we were calculating transit trips could be optimized. The good news is that this effort led to the creation of new line-level transit counts, that will be available in the Data Downloads section of the application. Having line-level counts was something that was requested during the acceptance review process. We're glad to offer it - should provide you all with an easier way to validate line counts outside of the Explorer interface. The bad news is that it took more time than we hoped to develop. We're finishing up everything, and I should have a final final iteration for you to review early next week. Thanks for your patience. I apologize I didn't provide more details on the update. We meet every day as a team to discuss and review progress, and it's been slower going that we anticipated. Expect another update early next week with brighter news! This section of the Homepage highlights reports and projects that help Replica users understand how movement impacts and affects their community. A specific corridor study use case, a social equity view on long commute times by lower income residents, and short work trips downtown by private auto are all examples of how Replica data can reveal deep insights into mobility challenges, mode choice, and the impact land use has on transportation. These highlighted reports and projects will periodically change as new use case solutions are discovered by Replica staff and Replica users. Ok - that’s all for today. Following up on this because we learned that some of our payments were being returned to sender. We recently moved offices and instead of forwarding they were getting returned. We haven't received payment from you all yet, so figured I would check. Our new address is: 8024 Conser Street Overland Park, KS 66224 Thank you.
