Kreutzkami June 2, 2016 Kim Wenrick UCSD Gift Planning kwenrick@ucsd.edu Re: Gift from Charles F. Kreutzkamp Dear Ms. Wenrick, My late husband, Charles Kreutzkamp, was a patient of Dr. Kevin Murphy at the cCare site in 45 Ranch. Chuck was also treated by Dr. Murphy with transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) at his Del Mar center and was amazed by the results. In fact, my husband was so impressed with this treatment that he initially made a donation of $50,000 to Dr. Murphy. Chuck was most impressed by the benefit he saw in military veterans, and children with autism and cerebral palsy. For my husband, the TMS therapy allowed him to be more mentally alert and improved his memory. But I believe it was Dr. Murphy?s good clinical results, and watching the kids come through the center that made the biggest impression on Chuck. As part of his gift planning, Chuck wanted to make a substantial donation to Dr. Murphy. He asked Dr. Murphy specifically, how he could donate to his TMS research, and help in a bigger way in a way to make the biggest impact for his patients. He asked Dr. Murphy what would it take to get this technology out to the largest number of people. Chuck and Dr. Murphy discussed clinical trials in five areas, including chemobrain in adults, chemobrain in children, sleep disorders and depression, veterans with PTSD, and autism. Dr. Murphy told Chuck that each of these five trials would require roughly to complete. Chuck decided to support his work by making a gift donation to the UCSD Foundation. This donation was intended for Dr. Murphy's research fund at UCSD to be used by him, and under his direction, in order to support his time for TMS research and other research Dr. Murphy deems appropriate. We did not intend for this to be a general gift to the cancer center. I hope this letter clarifies any misunderstanding with respect to this gift by my husband and I trust that you will ensure that his wishes with respect to these funds are fulfilled. ?fwmw Ernestina G.
