Proposed Phase II Improvements - Planting
• Revegetation of areas where invasive species were
removed to prevent the re-establishment of invasive
plants.
• Plant 110 native trees, 105 drought tolerant plants,
and ¾ acre of wildflower seed.
• Vegetation management efforts are in alignment with the
approved Comanche Creek Vegetation Management Plan.
• Phase II improvements will result in a reduction of
greenhouse gas emissions through carbon sequestration
and will augment current vegetation management efforts.

 Proposed Phase II Improvements –Class I Bike Path
•

Class 1 bikeway gap closure (0.62 Miles) along the
former railroad, connecting the recently
completed Phase 1 pedestrian bridge over
Comanche Creek and adjacent Class 1 bikeway to
the regional Chico-Durham bike path.

•

Signalized intersection improvements , including
ADA curb ramps and sidewalks installed at
Midway and Hegan Lane.

 Disadvantaged Community Engagement
•

Friends of Comanche Creek were instrumental in
development of the management and improvement plans for
the Greenway.

•

The Friends volunteer over 2100 hours annually, worth
$52,000 in volunteer service and have pledged $17,000
annually for 3 years of maintenance costs.

•

Their vegetation management efforts have resulted in
removal of approx. 725 cubic yards of invasive plant material.

•

The Friends lead volunteer work days that engage youth on
probation.

and recreational route for
residents of the Southwest
Chico Neighborhood and
