Kevin lcan?t speak for all members of CAG, but would make the following comments in response to your written plans: 1. As discussed, a 49% MSP appointment would alleviate the con?ict of commitment issues related to your clinical practice outside of UCSD. However, since Rady Children?s is an of?cial af?liate institution it is not clear that you could be employed at Rady in addition to your employment at UCSD without being subject, again, to the UCSD con?ict of commitment policies. 2. Any appointment at UCSD salaried or non-salaried faculty, MSP) would have to be approved by your department and endorsed by your chair. 3. Clinical compensation as an MSP contract physician would be subject to compensation policies and practices of the UCSD Health System per the MSP salary/compensation plan and your department. 4. The CAG Committee does not normally meet with individuals but prefers to consider and respond, in writing, to written proposals, plans, and/or inquiries. Your situation is unique, but so are many of the other cases and situations discussed. At this point, as we discussed, I would suggest putting your proposed plans in writing for CAG to review at its next meeting (currently scheduled for Nov 21). You can certainly include a request to meet in person. 5. The term RTAD refers to ?Recall To Active Duty? and is used for individuals who retire from the University and resume working on a limited, part-time basis. If you leave the University you may have the option to retire or to leave your accrued retirement funds in the UC Retirement System for use upon retirement at a later date. After retiring you (with the department?s approval) may have the option of being ?recalled? for part-time employment under an RTAD contract on a year to year basis. I hope this helps.
