ATLANTIC YARDS aka Pacific Park Brooklyn Construction Update Weeks of February 17 and February 24, 2020 During this reporting period: LIRR Yard Activities – West Block 1120 & East Block 1121 ● Site restoration, asphalt installations, and cable pulling operations will continue in Blocks 1120 and 1121. ● Contractor to continue elevator installation, testing and commissioning, and pedestrian bridge access adjacent to the Carlton Avenue and Pacific Street intersection. ● Contractor to continue to install stairs, gates, etc. in various locations within the Yard. Public access ways will not be impeded. ● Site demobilization, including material and equipment removal, will be on-going through the end of February. LIRR Yard Activities – Night/Weekend Work ● Electrical utility installations, site restoration, track restoration/remediation, and work that require LIRR track outages are expected to be completed by the end of February. ● LIRR has begun utilizing portions of the new Yard lighting for security reasons, lights come on at dusk and go off at daybreak. ● Contractor plans to work weekday second shift to cut/trench/excavate/install underground train toilet servicing piping, equipment and heat tracing between 6:00pm and 6:00am. Appropriate light, dust and noise mitigation will be in place. B15 ● Concrete superstructure work continues. An increase in material and equipment deliveries as well as an increased labor force can be expected during this scope of work. ● Please be advised that as described in previous reports, a tower crane will be installed at the B15 site. The installation work will begin late Friday (February 14) and continue through to Sunday evening (February 16). As part of this work, 6th Avenue between Dean Street and Atlantic Avenue will be closed in both directions. Pedestrians will be able to cross 6th Avenue at Dean and Pacific Streets, and flaggers will be on site during this work to assist with pedestrian and vehicular traffic. B4 ● Concrete superstructure work continues. An increase in material and equipment deliveries as well as an increased labor force can be expected during this scope of work. 1 ● A tower crane has been erected on site and will be operational during this reporting period. ● Saturday work permit applications will be submitted to DOB each week through the end of the calendar year for ongoing construction work. If received, residents should expect site work between the hours of 9am – 5pm. ● Modifications to the Atlantic Avenue concrete median (both east and west of the 6th Avenue intersection) will commence during this reporting period. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained, and no pedestrian traffic will be allowed on the south side of Atlantic along the B4 site. Pedestrians walking east or west along Atlantic Avenue must use the opposite side of the street (utilizing the Fort Greene Place and 6th Avenue cross walks). Once the median work is complete, the east bound traffic lanes on Atlantic Avenue will be shifted (into the median) and a new pedestrian walkway will be installed along Atlantic and 6th Avenues. B12 and B13 (595 Dean Street) ● Possible fence repair may occur across both sites during this reporting period. Con Edison (Various) ● Con Edison will be working in and around 6th Avenue and Pacific Street to provide electric service to the B4 and B15 sites How to Reach Pacific Park Brooklyn Community Liaison Office (CLO) The Community Liaison Office is now located at 550 Vanderbilt Avenue with entrance on Pacific Street. The CLO’s hours are M-F from 9am – 4pm and can be reached by phone at 866-923-5315 and by email at communityliaison@pacificparkbrooklyn.com Noise Receptor Control Program You may be eligible to receive and have installed double paned or storm windows and an in-window air conditioning unit for certain residential units where such air conditioning and/or double paned windows/storm windows do not exist today. The cost of any windows and any air conditioning units, and the cost of their installation, would be borne by the Developer. The locations that may be eligible at this time are the residential sites in proximity to site construction and identified in the 2006 Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) or the 2014 Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (FSEIS) as having the potential to experience significant adverse noise impacts during the construction of the Pacific Park Brooklyn project.
