January 27, 2020 Dear Colleague, It’s an exciting year to be in the statehouse and I look forward to having the opportunity to work with you as we begin our session. I am unsure if you are aware, but I currently serve as the State Chair for the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). One-quarter of state legislators are ALEC members, making it the largest nonpartisan, voluntary, membership organization for state legislators. ALEC serves to advance limited government, free markets and federalism. ALEC equips decisionmakers like us with the tools and resources needed to make sound policy. ALEC is the only organization that brings together decision-makers from local, state and federal governments to build community and solve problems. ALEC member resources such as ALEC CARE and ALEC CONNECT provide us with 24/7 value. ALEC CARE is a constituent management platform designed to assist you in engaging with your community back home more effectively. ALEC CONNECT is a digital collaboration space that puts a national network of leaders at your fingertips. Annual conferences provide great learning opportunities with speakers, training sessions, and task force meetings surrounded around your policy passion. This year, ALEC legislators participated in academies on tax and pension policy, wind energy development and life science innovation. They visited the U.S.-Mexico border, a nuclear power plant and a tiny-home village built to fight chronic homelessness. I believe you would be a great fit because you are aligned with the core principles of ALEC. ALEC has helped me grow tremendously as a legislator by providing me with all of the experiences, connections, and educational resources mentioned above. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have. Sincerely,
