Dear Steuart,
I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve as the Anne Arundel County Director of Economic
Development. I have enjoyed the job, the team at Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation,
and the privilege of advocating on behalf of the business community. In many ways it was an extension
of my time as a legislator where I was known for the same advocacy of private sector issues.
Please allow this letter to serve as my official resignation from the role. I am willing to remain in my
position for the next two weeks through Friday, March 13th. in order to ensure a smooth transition for
the team at AAEDC and your administration.
AAEDC is a great team of individuals who are committed to the work of growing the economy,
increasing the tax base, and assisting businesses of all sizes to grow for the benefit of county residents,
both employees and employers. Over the past year we have had many success stories of entrepreneurs
utilizing our programs to start, grow, or expand their companies.
We recently completed a strategic planning process that was one of the primary recommendations from
your transition report for the department. The plan outlines strategies on growing industry sectors, a
new area of focus on redevelopment in outdated commercial corridors, like Glen Burnie, and an
emphasis on capturing metrics from our Business Development team. I believe, if finished and
implemented, the plan will continue to guide the organization into the future.

you lead the county.
