UNITED STATES OF AMERICA BEFORE THE NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD REGION 10 Mission Hospital Employer, and Case 10-RC-257615 NATIONAL NURSES ORGANIZING COMMITTEE-NORTH NURSES UNITED, (NNOC-NORTH Petitioner. DECLARATION OF KERRI WILSON, RN IN SUPPORT OF OPPOSITION T0 MOTION TO POSTPONE HEARING I, Kerri Wilson, RN, declare as follows 1. I am a registered nurse and employed at Mission Hospital (?Employer?). 1 have knowledge of the facts set forth herein, and if called as a witness to testify to these facts, could competently do so. 2. I currently work in Medical Cardiology Stepdown on the ?fth floor in Heart Tower on day shift from 7 am. to 7 pm, three days a week. There are about 26 registered nurses that work in this unit on day-shift and 24 on night shift. 3. On day shift there are two Nursing Unit Managers in my unit: Veronica DeGuzman (?Guzman?) and Megan Lane NUSs act as charge nurses and report to Unit Managers Michelle Cotton (?Cotton?) and Kelly Walker (?Walker?) both of whom work on day shift. 4. Last week, Cotton had a conversation with me and a new employee that I was orienting. She handed both of us a flyer urging nurses not to support the Union. In her conversation with the new nurse, she said that if the Union won an election, the Employer would stop all raises and put nurses? ?exibility on hold. 5. Today, March 12. DeGuzman instructed me to attend a meeting with a consultant that urged us to vote against the Union. DeGuzman said that Mission Hospital was having these meetings for all RNs and were having several meetings throughout the day. DeGuzman said she would watch my patients while attended the meeting, which she did. 6. I am aware that NUSs are covering shifts just so that nurses can attend these meeting against the Union. The Employer is also calling on-call nurses into work just so that nurses can attend these meetings. 7. The meeting was on second ?oor in Heart Tower, and there were nurses from several different units of Mission Hospital. There were approximately ?fteen (15) nurses present. This meeting lasted for approximately an hour. 8. After the meeting, Cotton approached me and asked whether I learned anything new from the meeting. 9. 1 am aware that the Employer has been holding these types of meetings daily at all hours of the day with ?fteen to twenty nurses at each meeting beginning this week. 10. Cotton also handed me a flyer today, March 12, that was speci?cally ?prepared? for me. This ?yer said, ?Learn the Facts About Union Dues,? and had a break down of what the Employer estimated I would pay in union dues based on my on my base hourly rate. At the bottom of this ?yer it said, ?Learn the Facts, Vote No.? I am aware that Mission Hospital is holding an event on March 25 called ?Mission Hospital Registered Nurse and Surgical Tech Mixer.? This is a recruitment event and is advertised as an opportunity to ?mix and mingled with nursing leadership and recruiters from Mission Health.?
