Thank you for your March 5. 2020 letter regarding the draft risk evaluation for trichloroethylenc (TC E) and your request that EPA hold one or more public meetings for the public to engage with the agency. We appreciate your engagement as EPA continues to protect human health and the environment through its implementation of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) as amended by the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act. Public engagement and feedback are an important part ofthe TSCA risk evaluation process. There have been and continue to be multiple opportunities for public comment built into this process. including a public comment period on the draft risk evaluation. and public participation in the peer review meetings on the draft risk evaluation. EPA is committed to being open and transparent as the agency evaluates potential risks from chemicals and to keeping the public updated as the agency moves through the risk evaluation process. Regarding speci?cally. EPA took public comments on the June 2017 scope document and on the May 2018 problem formulation and is currently taking public comments on the draft risk evaluation until April 27'. 2020. We encourage you to submit comments and any information you may have on TCE to the docket EPA-HQ-OPPT-2019-0500 by following the instructions here: 9-0500-0001. The agency also provided an opponunity for public comments during the virtual preparatory meeting of the Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC) on March 3. 2020. (iiven the situation around 9 and out ofan abundance of caution for the health and safety of everyone. and the restrictions and concerns ofour SACC members. EPA recently announced that the March 2020 SACC meeting on TCE was changed to a virtual public meeting. with participation by phone and webcast only. Meeting times and dates are adjusted to accommodate this change. The virtual meeting will be held on March 24-27. 2020. from 10:00 AM to approximately 5:00 PM We encourage you to register online to receive the webcast meeting link and audio telecontcrence information for participation in this meeting.
