MARION COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE Pro-Active Measurements to Combat Coronavirus As the coronavirus continues to spread throughout the world, and now throughout the United States, it is clear the question is no longer will it impact our community and Agency rather when will it impact our community and Agency? As this situation evolves daily, the MCSO continues to strategize a plan to combat the virus as much as possible and have outlined our efforts thus far: ➢ Encouraging staff, and the inmate population, to practice good cleanliness and washing their hands properly and often with soap and water. ➢ Encouraging staff to stay home if sick or displaying flu like symptoms. ➢ Posting Coronavirus awareness information sheets at every public entry, restrooms, and throughout all MCSO facilities. ➢ Increased availability of sanitized wipes, alcohol-based hand sanitizer, and cleaning solutions to every employee and all work areas. ➢ Public entry security personnel mandated to wear disposable gloves, and to wipe out bins with EPA registered sanitized cleaning wipes after each use. ➢ Temporary suspension of public tours to MCSO facilities (911 Center, Jail, etc.) ➢ Working closely with Wellpath (Jail medical provider) to implement an inmate screening procedure for Coronavirus, and follow up. ➢ Identified one male and one female housing unit that may be utilized for isolation of infected inmates. ➢ Increased Jail cleaning schedule with EPA registered supplies in all housing units. ➢ Participating in discussions hosted by the Marion County Public Health Department with emergency first responders throughout the city on planning recommendations and response considerations. ➢ Attending weekly meetings with human resource leaders enterprise wide to discuss and share information on proactive measurements and to develop a plan of action for critical staffing numbers. ➢ Executive staff receiving and closely monitoring updates from various entities including the Major County Sheriff’s Association, CDC, Board of Public Health, etc. ➢ Making direct contact with other agencies, including King County Sheriff’s Office in Seattle, Washington, on what their protocol or plan is for a possible pandemic. 2
