FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Greg Hartley greg@sagepolitics.com 801-231-2756 Greg Hughes names Victor Iverson, Washington County Commissioner, as running mate SALT LAKE CITY (April 14, 2020) — Former Speaker of the House Greg Hughes announces his running mate, naming Washington County Commissioner Victor Iverson to be Utah’s next lieutenant governor. “Victor is a proven leader with a commitment to conservative principles,” Speaker Hughes said. “He has kept Washington County strong and prepared, with the lowest tax rate in the state and a full year of rainy-day funds in reserve. Victor has served government at the city, county and federal level, is immediate past president of the Utah Association of Counties and is the person Utah can trust to be the next lieutenant governor.” In 2015, Iverson was elected to the Washington County Board of Commissioners and currently serves as chair. Born in St. George and raised in La Verkin, Victor graduated from Hurricane High School. He went on to earn an associate degree from Dixie College, where he served as the student body president, and a bachelor’s degree from Southern Utah University. Victor has served as president of the Utah Association of Counties (UAC), UAC Public Lands Committee chairman, natural resources and public lands policy advisor for Senator Mike Lee and on the La Verkin City Council. “I am grateful for the honor of joining this team and helping Speaker Hughes become the next governor of Utah,” Commissioner Iversonsaid. “He is the conservative candidate with the proven ability to get things done, no matter the challenge.
