Tippecanoe County Health Department Foods & Environmental 20 N 3rd Street Lafayette, IN 47901 765-423-9221 Nursing & Vital Records 629 N 6th Street Ste A Lafayette, IN 47901 765-423-9221 Directives for Protecting Employees of Essential Businesses within Tippecanoe County In accordance with Governor Holcomb's Executive Orders, all Essential Businesses and Operations shall: 1) Comply with social distancing requirements established by the CDC, including maintaining six-foot social distancing for employees, and modify operations and the workplace environment to optimize social distancing 2) Make hand sanitizer readily available for all employees or provide the means for frequent handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds 3) Post signs reminding employees about social distancing requirements, hand hygiene, covering coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or elbow, not hands), regularly cleaning high-touch surfaces, and not shaking hands 4) Actively encourage sick employees to stay home 5) Frequently perform enhanced environmental cleaning of commonly touched surfaces and provide disposable wipes so that commonly used surfaces can be wiped down by employees In addition, businesses shall: 1) Screen employees for symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath) and exclude symptomatic employees from the workplace 2) Allow employees to work remotely from home when possible 3) Modify operations to prevent the formation of crowds inside and outside of the business, including staggering breaks and lunch hours 4) Minimize in-person meetings in favor of teleconferences or virtual meetings 5) Minimize visitors in the workplace 6) Per CDC guidelines, encourage the use of cloth facemasks by employees in settings where social distancing may be difficult Jeremy P.
