May 3, 2020 NEWS RELEASE F O R I M M E D I AT E R E L E A S E In partnership with the Yuba-Sutter Community Task Force, the Yuba-Sutter Covid-19 Relief Task Force is being managed by a group of local community leaders to help feed area residents affected by the current COVID-19 emergency. Local food pantries are experiencing an uptick in demand due to the economic downturn resulting from the Coronavirus. Bulk food is being secured by the Yuba-Sutter Covid-19 Relief Task Force to provide food to area pantries to meet the increased demand. On May 2, 2020, the largest single donation of food to date, was received by the Yuba-Sutter COVID19 Relief Task Force. Sarb Thiara, local farmer and businessman, along with his friends, donated more than 40,000 lbs. of food and bottled water. These items will be distributed to the roughly two dozen local pantries that are serving food-insecure families in the Yuba-Sutter area. This is the second sizeable contribution Mr. Thiara has led to benefit the Yuba-Sutter COVID-19 Relief Task Force. Mr. Thiara also provided a personal contribution of $5,000 to the effort. Leaders of local pantries have been contacted and invited to begin procuring these donated items beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4 th at the Yuba-Sutter COVID-19 Relief Task Force warehouse location at 850 Gray Avenue in Yuba City (south side of building).
