Golden Shovel Poem Coronavirus By Maddy Yoo Striking Line- “How can I stay strong in a world where fear and hate wait outside my door.” We are trapped in our house and I don’t know how Long this panic will last. I don’t understand how people can Joke around about this stuff. When we do get to go outside, I Like to look around at everyone out there. Do they not care so they just stay Together? We sit at the table eating dinner. I think about all the strong People who have the virus. There are lots of people all around the world in The hospital with it. There are kids as young as me and as old as your grandparents. It’s a Whole different time with this going on. It feels as if the whole world Is locked up in quarantine. Wuhan, China is where It started. People get worried and scared with fear Building up in their bodies. We are all worried about everyone in the world and Especially the ones in hospital. This is driving adults crazy with hate And kids with crazy boredom. All we can do is wait For it to be over. The only place we are allowed to go is outside On a walk and in the house. But what is the point of going outside if I can’t see any of my Friends and classmates? We have to FaceTime instead of them coming to our front door. It’s just not the same.
