Terry Ebbert, Director of Public Safety and Homeland Security SUBJECT: 2020 Budget Reduction DATE: April 29, 2020 Brief: New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board (NOMTRCB) provides essential functions to protect the health of the citizens and visitors of New Orleans as well as protecting public structures and trees from structural damage caused by termites and other urban pests. In addition, NOMTRCB has taken a leadership role in disinfection of city-owned buildings and vehicles during the current COVID-19 pandemic. NOMTRCB has the certification, equipment and skillsets required to economically and effectively sanitize buildings occupied by city employees. As city government begins to reopen, disinfection will play even more of an important role in keeping the working environment safe. This funding is critical to supporting employee salaries and purchasing items needed by the department to meet core functions and project obligations.
