Minock Statements May 14, 2020 The following statements were made by former and current members of Iowa State College Republicans regarding Mr. Jacob “Vlad” Minock. All statements from individuals were confirmed and the individuals were notified of the ramifications that their statements hold. Their statements will remain anonymous, unless noted, to protect their identity and membership within Iowa State College Republicans. To maintain the validity of these accounts, all testimonies have been collected within the past four months. Sexual Harassment 3 Abuse of Power 3 Threaten to Blackmail 4 Violent Threats 4 Unbecoming of a Member 5 Sexual Harassment I. II. III. IV. V. When Young Americans for Freedom at Ames High School came to an Iowa State College Republicans meeting during the 2017-2018 academic year, Mr. Minock informed a member that he had “dibs” on a female member of the high school group when she became a freshman at Iowa State University in the fall. In December 2019, at a campus event in which Young Americans for Freedom at Ames High School was present, Mr. Minock asked a member which high school girl they “wanted to have.” Mr. Minock stated that he wanted to recruit freshman girls ("go get me a freshman") for Iowa State College Republicans because he wanted to "lay pipe" with them. Three female students at Iowa State University voice that they stopped attending College Republican meetings solely due to the behavior Mr. Minock presented towards females. “While I attended College Republicans I was at a meeting and witneseed Vlad make several comments that one of the then members shouldn’t run for a position because she was a woman. Not too long after I was at another meeting where multiple pictures of girls in bikinis were used in a powerpoint. That was the last meeting I attended because the culture / environment Vlad created reeked of sexism.” ~Female student at Iowa State University Abuse of Power VI. Mr. Minock has used College Republicans’ data inappropriately. Minock had new members write their phone numbers down, solely to be added to the ISU College Republicans GroupMe. Directly after the meeting, Mr. Minock added Laura Emery and one other anonymous female on Snapchat by phone number, demonstrating a serious breach of trust. Another testimony of the same behavior follows: A. “I signed up for college republicans and put my phone number for the GroupMe, but after one college republican meeting Vlad added me on snapchat using the number from the CR sheet. It gave me a very weird feeling and I did not return to college republicans.” ~Female student at Iowa State University VII. VIII. “There was an incident where I wanted to text information to a certain individual and Jacob texted me the contact information. I did not and never have given him my phone number and I asked the few people who had my phone number if they had given it to him. No one had, and I felt very creeped out that he had somehow gotten my number without my knowledge.” ~Female student at Iowa State University Mr. Minock sent out an email from the ISU College Republicans email account suggesting that members vote on the “Miss Polski USA” pageant. A. “I found this to be very weird and creepy and I did not return to College Republicans after.” ~Female student at Iowa State University B. Threaten to Blackmail IX. “In the fall of 2019, I witnessed Jacob “Vlad” Minock secretly record a student that talked about the legalization of marijuana and admit that he (the student) smoked it in a presentation. This student had previously removed Minock from a group chat on GroupMe for reasons unknown to me. After the student had finished speaking, Minock publicly and clearly threatened to send the recording to a company with which the student was seeking an internship, unless the student re-added him to the group chat.” ~Kimberly Zavoski Violent Threats X. Laura Emery was present when Mr. Minock referred to a former ISU College Republicans Board member, stating that the Board member should be “beaten.” A. Laura Emery (blue) had this conversation with a former Iowa State College Republicans Board member (gray) in 2019 about Mr. Minock’s comments: Unbecoming of a Member XI. XII. XIII. “Mr. Minock referred to Fridays as “Hard R Fridays” in front of College Republican members and would use the n-word in public conversation.” ~Former Board member of College Republicans present when said comments were made. At a College Republicans meeting in the spring of 2019, Mr. Minock made several jokes in front of the group about one of the members. This member’s father recently passed away. Mr. Minock made jokes throughout the night mocking the member’s relationships with girls and others. Directly after the meeting was over, Vlad made a joke to the member, which caused the member to flip a table and yell at Mr. Minock. It caused a huge scene, as there was almost a fist-fight in front of the members. This incident reflected poorly on both Mr. Minock and the College Republicans organization, due to Mr. Minock’s mocking of a student in mourning. “Jacob Minock displayed a lack of professionalism when he made and contributed to multiple sexist jokes and comments during official College Republican Meetings.” ~Piper Christenson, Iowa State College Republicans Secretary, 2016-2018 XIV. XV. Mr. Minock admitted to a member that he was the sole person responsible for inviting Nick Fuentes to campus, having emailed Fuentes about coming to Iowa State months before the event happened. Minock then pinned the event on both Turning Point USA at Iowa State University and Ryan Hurley, the current President of Iowa State College Republicans. “Jacob Minock accused the campaign of Senator Randy Feenstra of “bribing the club for an endorsement” and informed members of this bribe. After consulting with the political director of the Feenstra campaign, it was revealed that in no way, shape, or form a bribe was mentioned or made. I reached out to the political director (Emily Schwickerath) and the campaign director (Matt Leopold) and they were saddened and frustrated to hear that this had been announced at an official college republican meeting and confirmed that no bribe was made whatsoever. This event made it harder to work with the campaign on ISU campus. It was also noted that Jacob Minock had been drinking and was intoxicated during the discussion.” ~Charles Klapatauskas, Iowa State College Republicans member, 2018-present XVI. XVII. “Jacob Minock displayed a lack of professionalism when he made and contributed to multiple sexist jokes and comments during official College Republican Meetings.” ~Piper Christenson, Iowa State College Republicans Secretary, 2016-2018 “In the fall semester of 2020, Ryan Hurley and I had been elected president and secretary of College Republicans, of which Minock had formerly been president. Minock initially handed over the passwords to Hurley, and Hurley passed the passwords on to me. Hurley and I worked together to delete tweets and edit our twitter biography that had been endorsing Kimberly Graham, a progressive candidate running for U.S. Senate. The biography itself stated “Fan account of @KimberlyforIowa”. Minock defended the state of the twitter account by calling it a ‘joke’. During the time Hurley and I were deleting the tweets and changing the twitter account, we noticed that we were suddenly unable to make any more edits. We tried refreshing the page and found that we were logged out of the account. We attempted to log back in using the same twitter handle and password we had been given by Minock, only to discover the password had been changed. Hurley attempted to reach out to Minock while I attempted to send a recovery code to the phone number attached to the account. Minock read Hurley’s messages but did not respond, while the recovery message that sent to the phone number with the last four digits being identical to Minock’s number was rejected. Hurley and I then attempted to log into our other social media accounts and email only to discover that all the passwords were changed as well, and we were effectively locked out of all accounts related to Iowa State College Republicans. We attempted to reach out to Minock over the course of the next couple of days, only to have him evade our attempts or tell us that he would give us the password ‘later’ and then ignore subsequent follow-up attempts. Between December 11th and 12th, I direct messaged Minock on GroupMe to ask him whether or not the recovery phone number for the email address was his to which he replied, “Yeah why?”. I then proceeded to ask him for the password again, and he said he would check when he got back to his apartment. I asked him what time that would be and he responded “3ish”. At 4:31 pm, I still had no response, so I asked him for the password again, to which I again received no response. In the College Republican Official GroupMe group chat, Hurley requested that individuals within the club report the account because it was not under our control, which started a long conversation in which we argued with Minock and asked him to hand the passwords over. At the culmination of the discussion, Minock revealed the password in the public groupchat, endangering the security of our accounts, and confirmed it in a direct message to me. The password was “RyanHurleyisaCuck69”. Hurley and I rushed to type the password into all of our accounts and change the recovery phone number before Minock could attempt to gain control of the accounts again.” -Kimberly Zavoski A. The above incident reflected poorly on the College Republican chapter, and screenshots can be provided per request. For the statements and testimonies stated above, the Board recognizes that Mr. Minock has violated Article Three, Section One and Section Four of the Iowa State College Republican Constitution and stands imminent trial.
