We are seeing new recommendations suggesting there be no assembling of groups greater than 10. Over the weekend the CDC recommended against assembling of groups greater than 50 but excluded schools from that guidance. Why should schools remain open when most schools clearly exceed the 10 and 50 numbers? 2. We hear much about flattening the curve to limit the infection rate. Should there be a national closing of all schools for the remainder of this school year as a preemptive measure to the spiking of the curve? 3. In your guidance the CDC indicates that countries that closed schools have not had more success in reducing the spread than those that did not. Is that still true? If so, why? 4. We understand and appreciate that the CDC issues recommendations and is mindful of local control but are we reaching the point where national steps need to be taken by all at the same time in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19? 5. Do we have projections of when the virus will peak in the US? 6. Would you advise a school district to close without having a confirmed COVID-19 case? How can schools account for asymptomatic transmission? 7. Is it safe for an educator to go to a family’s home to provide services to early childhood or special needs students? 8. Are there guidelines for the reopening of schools? Once reopened, will there be funding for school-based prevention and monitoring? 9. At what point should guidelines become mandates?
