Statement of Real Time Staffing Services, Inc. d/b/a SelectRemedy (4/15/13) This statement is made in response to your inquiry regarding the practice of van drivers providing transportation to the job site for temporary workers in the greater Chicago area. SelectRemedy has been operating in Illinois and in the greater Chicago area since the Fall of 2007, and therefore cannot comment authoritatively on the van--drivers situation before then. Since that time, Select Remedy is aware that private van drivers have frequently provided transportation to the job site for many temporary workers employed by staffing companies. it is our understanding that it is a common practice throughout the Chicago metro area. Much like car pooling, private transportation vans provide the employees, including some of SelectRemedy's associates, with an alternative to driving their own automobiles or taking public transportation to the job site, which is often located many miles from their homes or in an area where parking is limited. SelectRemedy greatly values its many associates. Indeed, SelectRemedy could not stay in business without them. SelectRemedy does not require its associates to take any particular form of transportation to the job site. Nor does SelectRemedy prohibit its associates from taking or utilizing any particular form oftransportation. As to the use of private van drivers, SelectRemedy is not involved in that process. What SelectRemedy does require is that its associates arrive on time and wiliing, ready and able to work as scheduled. How an individual associate arrives and leaves the worksite in accomplishing the same is a personal decision of the associate. If there are instances in which private van drivers are operating or have in the past operated in a way that is unfair to SelectRemedy associates, SelectRemedy remains ready to investigate any such situation, and has taken and will continue to take prompt corrective action as warranted.
