Key Updates- COVID-19 Planning and Support¾ Planning for 2020-2021 School Year ƒ Through Weekly Meetings With Leaders- Preparing school leaders and their teams to be prepared ƒ Process for school planning (team, action steps) ƒ Robust scenario planning, based upon various social distancing requirements ƒ Sharing of best practices and coordinating on operational planning ƒ Development of school planning guide inclusive of protocols for school operations and safety, distance learning diverse learners, professional development, etc. ƒ Collection of academic and operational plans from schools in June ƒ Acquiring expertise to advise on the safe opening and running of schools ƒ Acquiring support from public health experts on reopening protocols ƒ Coordinating regularly with state and local agencies ƒ Continuing Internal COVID-19 School Response Team ƒ Conducting weekly working groups with leaders on topics related to reopening ƒ Continually assessing and planning to address needs at the school and district level Planning for 2020-2021: Operations ƒ Planning for Safe Opening and Daily Management of Schools ƒ Public Health Services: NOLA-PS will engage with a public health professional to consult on the creation of a School Reopening Framework. Scope of work includes items such as: ƒ Ensure the Reopening Framework is aligned with the Louisiana Department of Health and the New Orleans Health Department: ƒ All operations and vendor services; child nutrition, custodial, transportation, student/staff entry, exit and transitions, athletic events, PPE requirements, etc. ƒ Chronic disease considerations for students and staff. ƒ Standard practices for the screening, identification, isolation, reporting and re-entry of persons with symptoms associated with COVID-19. ƒ Standard communication templates for potential and known positive encounters of COVID19 with students, staff, or community. ƒ Evaluate health data and aid the district in making school and system wide closure decisions. 7 Planning for 2020-2021: Technology Planning for 20-21 ƒ The Louisiana Department of Education has prioritized funding to support LA schools reaching a 1:1 technology device and connectivity goal for all students statewide.
