1 Collierville Schools Restart and Recovery Plan Overview 2020-2021 Dr. Gary Lilly Director of Schools 2 Collierville Schools Restart and Recovery Plan Summary of Events • Collierville Schools formed Essential Function (ESF) Teams in 11 areas that support the reopening and recovery planning for the 2020-2021 school year. oESF: Personnel oESF: Feeding Operations oESF: Transportation oESF: Facility Cleaning and Supplies oESF: Monitoring and Assessment oESF: Social Distancing and Logistics oESF: Mental Health and Safety oESF: Curriculum and Distance Learning oESF: Special Education oESF: Extra-Curricular Activities and Athletics oESF: Communications and Policy • ESF Teams were comprised of Central Office Staff, Principals, School Board Members, Parents/Caregivers, and other Community Partners. Each Team, facilitated by a Lead staff member, has met together to problem solve areas of concern in their particular area of expertise and formulate plans. • CS distributed a short survey to solicit feedback from parents/caregivers with regard to transition back to school, support programs, and school transportation needs. A brief summary is included in this overview. • The work of the ESF Teams along with stakeholder survey results will be combined to create workable plans for each phase that we may face in the upcoming school year. • Our plan will focus on 4 main areas of concern: 1) Limiting contact with others (social distancing); 2) providing learning opportunity options; 3) enforcing safety prevention measures; and 4) providing student, staff, and family support. Limited recommendations are included in this overview. • Collierville Schools must first present our plans to the Shelby County Health Department for approval. Afterwards, we will share those plans with our school board, parents, and other stakeholders. 3 Due to the high number of unknown factors, Collierville Schools is planning for multiple scenarios to provide safe and appropriate educational opportunities for all students in the 2020-2021 school year. Our reopening plans for schools will be guided by the Shelby County Health Department and the Tennessee Department of Education Reopening Schools Guidance Document for Educational Agencies. Specific plans and practices will be particular to each of the phases appearing below. PHASE PHASE PHASE 1 2 3 All schools are closed. Students will be using remote learning and no in-person classes.
