To: Yoann Barbosa, CMD of ABB Power Grids, Transformers Division, North America Anders Hultberg, Business Unit Managing Director of ABB Power Grids, High Voltage Division, North America ABB Americas 305 Gregson Drive Cary, NC 27511 From: UAW Local 2379, UE Locals 625/626/1009, & IUE Local 83799 20 May 2020 RE: Proposal for ABB Employees Ms. Barbosa and Mr. Hultberg, Our members are on the front lines of manufacturing during this crisis. Due to our “essential” workplace designation, we have continued to manufacture and service ABB products across this country. We are extremely proud of our members for their resilience and determination. While each shop has put their own mitigation efforts in place, we still know that reporting to work means potentially exposing ourselves, our families, and our communities to the virus. Indeed, despite taking every available precaution, working in this environment has included significant levels of stress and risk. Following the measures taken by other companies of similar size and in recognition of our sacrifices, we are calling on ABB to reward all active employees with extra compensation throughout the duration of the pandemic. Specifically, we are calling on ABB to implement an employee compensation package equaling an additional fifteen (15%) percent per hour increase for every hour worked since February 28, 2020, to be paid in weekly increments through the remainder of the second quarter of this year. Like grocery store workers, delivery drivers and other manufacturing employees who are receiving extra compensation during the coronavirus pandemic, manufacturing and service workers at ABB deserve to know that their commitment and hard work during the pandemic will not go unnoticed. Finally, as we continue to risk potential exposure during the pandemic, we ask that ABB continue to provide the proper PPE and adhere to all of the CDC and OSHA guidelines set forth to protect our members and your employees. We are asking that you take the lead on this initiative of ensuring the health and safety of ABB’s employees as well as recognizing our efforts during this uncertain and difficult time. Please respond to this proposal promptly by communication directed to the undersigned.
