Greg Tucker statements July 6: “Both the federal Bankruptcy Court and the Creditors Committee recognize the critical need for professional communications given the significant challenges that the Diocese of Buffalo is working to resolve. In my role as interim Communications Director, I’m committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to communicate the concrete steps that Bishop Scharfenberger and the leadership team are taking to provide resolution and healing for those harmed by past abuse, while at the same time amplifying the vital work of faith that continues uninterrupted across Western New York for the benefit of so many. “As a life-long Catholic and communications professional for over 30 years, I hope that my work will contribute to providing the essential information, clarity, context that is so needed at this time, even as the work to bring about a new era of renewal within the Diocese of Buffalo continues.” July 10: As you know from our many dealings, I'm working as interim communications director (not merely as a "PR consultant" for the Chapter 11 process) and at a time that requires robust communications internally across the Diocese, as well as externally, about all that is underway to deal with the challenges the Diocese is confronting. The Catholic Center has enacted extensive cost cutting measures over the past several months and Bishop Scharfenberger has launched a Renewal Initiative to define a more sustainable path forward, while providing for the resolution and healing of survivors of clergy sex abuse. It continues to be my aim to assist in providing the clarity, context and responsiveness to the need for information that members of the news media and all stakeholders require during this period.
