On behalf of Deer Path homeowners, We would like to make a statement regarding the current HOA board. We as homeowners are starting to become very frustrated but it is not due to the current HOA, nor the previous HOA board members. Our HOA has been very transparent in sharing financial statements regarding the dues of the neighborhood and how they have been used. The HOA has also been very diligent in creating a welcoming, friendly, and an all around kept up neighborhood by having events such as food trucks, updating pool furniture, creating different voluntary committees, etc. This frustration stems from the use of our community’s financials having to go towards legal fees brought on by the multiple lawsuits filed by Mr. Taylor and Mr. Dehem. There’s also a bit of irony in this whole mess. To say you love the neighborhood and then continuously try to flood it with bad publicity is questionable. It could affect all our home values. I don’t think they realize they’re hurting themselves in this process. The claims that dues have been raised for homeowners without taking proper steps is also false. HOA dues have not increased since 2005 when builders were still in control of the neighborhood. Neither party has even lived in this neighborhood that long to have even seen the increase. Brian and Andrew like to claim that everything is the HOA’s fault, when they cannot keep facts straight between builder discrepancies and management company discrepancies. Through the entire grueling process, the HOA was more than transparent about answering questions from concerned residents, sharing financials, and being open to suggestions by the community. The new board members have been very proactive in sharing information and getting opinions on new projects before setting anything into action. Once the previous board was made aware of the issues with the election bylaws they publicly acknowledged this and did everything they could to make it right. The elected board was frozen and we had new elections in January. They made sure the new election followed all the rules and had lawyers present to verify that everything was legally done. We elected a new board who have been doing an amazing job. We also voted that night to change the bylaws, which asked for a huge amount of voters to be present and made it a more reasonable number. The new board then had an audit done, that is public, and shows there was no missing money or money not being used for its purposes. We feel as though many of the 1600+ residents in the neighborhood vehemently oppose the tactics being used by Mr. Dehem. He does not represent the majority of homeowners here in Deer Path, which should be obvious through our election choices. We are very happy with our current HOA board and they have done a great job. The process of voiding out the elections dating back to 2011 is a waste of time and money. OUR money! It will not change the current situation and we do not support Mr. Dehem’s lawsuit. Sincerely, Concerned Deer Path Homeowners Halle Muzyka collected information from multiple residents and pieced them together to make this joint statement. In just 12 hours, 150 residents on the Deer Path’s Facebook page stated that they agreed with this statement and supported it being sent to WRTV. “We have lived in Deer path for 5 years now. We actually own two homes here in the neighborhood! Everything from the location to the school district was enough to get our family excited about living here, not to mention some of the lowest HOA dues around. The dues have not increased in the time we have lived here. The community here is great. We love the amenities provided and use them often. During the election process, concerns were raised for me, but the candidates were more than transparent with financial, project plans, and answered all my questions. They have still made that a priority since being officially elected. Overall nothing bad to say about this community.” Halle Muzyka
