Response from Scott Taylor, spokesperson, Bureau of Prisons, to question about execution precautions from The Marshall Project: How does the BOP respond to the victim family's perception that adequate COVID-19 precautions were not taken for those attending the execution?  We are deeply concerned for the health and welfare of those inmates who are entrusted to our care, and for our staff, their families, and the communities we live and work in.  It is our highest priority to continue to do everything we can to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our facilities.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, temperature checks were required (100.4 or higher were not be permitted), face masks were issued upon arrival to the complex and participants were required to wear it throughout the entire process.  Any violation of this order was subject to immediate removal from the premises.  Additionally, to the extent practical, social distancing of 6 feet was exercised.
