(U//LES) Officer Safety: Potential for Violence against CBP Personnel (U//LES) Heightened open source and social media reporting focused on the current migration crisis could lead to violent acts targeting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) personnel. In addition, following the 1 July port closure at the Paso Del Norte Bridge, reporting indicates that Cuban migrant groups located in Ciudad Juarez may be planning incursions at the port of entry over the coming days. 1,2,3  (U//FOUO) A Texas-based social media user posted "im sayin these people are actually evil like a gestapo! again kill all ICE agents," while posting on a webpage containing derogatory comments about the U.S. Border Patrol (likely confusing ICE and USBP). 4  (U//LES) In December 2018, AntifaUSBUS had released a manual via social media on tactics to conduct effective attacks against law enforcement officials and how to construct makeshift weapons. 5 On 30 June, an Antifa member posted a statement on social media threating to put acid in milkshakes, stating that “I have perfected an acid that you can mix into milkshakes that will still taste refreshing and creamy but give you 3rd degree chemical burns hit me up.” 6 (U//LES) Agents, officers and support staff are encouraged to remain vigilant and situationally aware of their surroundings at all times. Take note of suspicious vehicles or persons, but do not take any direct action. Remember to secure vehicles, valuables, and firearms, in accordance with agency policy. Additionally, it is recommended that you vary routes and routines used to and from work and report any suspicious incidents to the security office. (U//FOUO) CBP elements may be targeted outside of their official duties, when they can be readily identified.
