I spoke with Camillus House yesterday regarding the proposal they submitted for this year’s Denise Moon Memorial Fund grant cycle. While they had initially requested support for training, they would like to shift their request for programmatic support. This is a result of some policy changes at the state level which lead to their $225,000 shortfall this year. The reason I’m sending this is to ensure full transparency throughout the process should the SAO committee decide to award Camillus House for this year and that an accurate understanding of that which they seek support for is understood across all levels. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much for your guidance and support. As you know, Project Phoenix, a 16-bed residential treatment program for adult female survivors of human trafficking, is the only of its kind in Miami-Dade County. As I mentioned over the phone, Camillus House would like to amend our prior proposal to the State Attorney’s Denise Moon Memorial Fund. Specifically, Camillus graciously requests programmatic support opposed to training costs due to the following: -During the budgeting process, the State of Florida reduced the amount of money allocated to social services programming due to unforeseen increased hurricane expenses. -As a result, Project Phoenix will receive $225,000 less in State funding for the upcoming program year. -To ensure women continue to receive the same level of service, Camillus House will solicit additional support through it’s highly supportive community partners and donor base to make up the reduction in funding. Enclosed, please find an updated budget. You will see that Camillus has shifted our request of $20,000 towards a portion of the salary for the Clinical Case Manager associated with the program. If you or anyone from the Fund have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. On behalf of the human trafficking survivors rehabilitated through Project Phoenix, thank you for your time and consideration.
