 DESANTIS JOB RATING DROPS WITH INCREASE IN COVID-19
With the rise of coronavirus cases in Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis’s job rating has taken a
significant hit. Statewide, only 45% approve of DeSantis’s performance in office, while 49%
disapprove and 6% are undecided. In March 2019, 62% approved of DeSantis and 24%
disapproved.

DeSantis’s approval numbers have dropped across the board. Not surprisingly, his impressive
numbers among Democrats were his biggest fall – declining from 41% to 17%. But he has also
lost approval among Republicans (down 11-points) and independents (down 17-points).
Among all demographic groups, DeSantis’s decline is as follows: men (-18%), women (-17%),
whites (-19%), blacks (-18%), Hispanics (-5%), voters <50 (-20%) and voters 50+ (-15%).
Regionally, DeSantis is down 9-points in North Florida, 18-points in Central Florida, 19-points in
Tampa Bay, 12-points in Southwest Florida and 23-points in Southeast Florida.

 HOW THE POLL WAS CONDUCTED
This poll was conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy, Inc. of Jacksonville,
Florida from July 20 through July 23, 2020. A total of 625 registered Florida
voters were interviewed live by telephone statewide.
Those interviewed were randomly selected from a phone-matched Florida
voter registration list that included both land-line and cell phone numbers.
Quotas were assigned to reflect voter registration by county.
The margin for error, according to standards customarily used by statisticians,
is no more than ± 4 percentage points. This means that there is a 95 percent
probability that the "true" figure would fall within that range if all voters were
surveyed. The margin for error is higher for any subgroup, such as a gender or
age grouping.
