THE SHERMAN SCHOOL DISTRICT REOPENING PLAN ABRIDGED VERSION OUR PRIORITIES Our greatest priority is and will always be to provide our students and staff with a educationally sound safe and learning environment. As long as public health data allows, our plan ensures that The Sherman School can remain open for all students, every single day . But don't worry, we have additional plans in the event that health conditions will not allow us to open safely. SAFETY The CDC, DPH, and local health/medical advisors have suggested that we implement the following strategies, to the greatest extent possible, to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus: Cohorting : Keeping groups away from other groups Face Coverings : Worn daily by all in K-8, with breaks Social Distancing : 6' separation at all times possible Personal Hygiene : Washing and sanitizing hands BLENDED LEARNING We can achieve a safe and educationally sound learning environment by shifting from a traditional approach of delivering instruction to a Blended students experience a combination of classroom instruction and digital learning in school using a variety of robust learning Learning model where management systems, personal devices, and web tools. In the event of a health emergency, we can and will shift to Remote Learning. REMOTE LEARNING Families who elect to keep their children home, or who do so out of medical necessity, will be provided the tools they need to be successful. These include personal electronic devices (iPads or to go kits " that contain specific supplies to keep Chromebooks) as well as " grade and content students engaged . We have invested in a Social-Emotional Program called Second Step, and will be training all faculty and staff on its implementation to ensure support our students we are prepared to by reinforcing a culture of Responsibility, Courage, Honesty and Respect.
