Instructional Models will be established by the Superintendent at both the building and district level based on the profile of the health risk. The modeled risk system is managed by the Union County Health Department and will serve as a major indicator when considering which Instructional Model to implement. MODEL 1 Safe Return for All Model • 100% Attendance in buildings • Live, in-person instruction • Practical social distancing TRANSPORTATION • Parents will be asked to confirm that their child needs school bus transportation. • Two students per seat on bus. • Bus routes will be divided into shuttles based on the total number of students who have confirmed the need for bus transportation for each route. • Each shuttle will add approximately 15 min per route and most bus routes will require 2-3 shuttles if all eligible riders decide to ride the bus. • In some cases some students may arrive at school before school starts if all eligible riders elect bus transportation. TECHNOLOGY • Each student will be assigned and access one Chromebook device (no sharing of devices in K-4). • Technology issues (hardware/software) will follow normal procedures per building. • In labs, all devices will be disinfected between use. • Health practices (masks, handwashing, temp checks, etc) • Regular, rigorous cleaning routines WELLNESS • Social-emotional content delivered in person by school-based providers (e.g. teachers, school counselors, psychologists, mental health therapists, prevention specialists). • In-person wellness check process. • Reintroduction of social-emotional risk screening measures. FOOD SERVICES • Lunch service while practicing social distancing (social distancing practice to be determined by building principals). • No self service meals. • Combination of cafeteria and classroom eating as determined by building principals. • Disinfectant cleaning of table tops and pin pads.
