External Communication • In principle, there are not many differences between the creation of internal and external documents. However, perception matters and we should be careful with making certain types of information widely available. • Therefore, the below process has to be followed when using our position in search in sales or other pitches: • We use the term “User Preference for Google Search” and never the term market share. • Strong preference for “reach” figures instead of “share” figures — if a presentation is left behind, no usage of “Share” figures. • Data used is third party reported (e.g. from comScore, Nielsen press releases), no internal data • Use of slides restricted to direct partnerships to sales team (only a limited set of sales persons can access the Google site with the slides) [need guidance for DSO] • Every presentation begins with a slide that specifically states that the slides are intended only for discussions with direct partners that are managed by SPDs and SPMs • Slides never handed or printed • If partner wants to use information with third parties, it has to receive prior Google approval • We will not publish these slides on MOMA or individual filers
