Hi Everyone,   One more update from me here before Khalid returns!   First – the voter registration reminder we were previously planning to run on July 3rd and 4th will now only run on July 3rd, and will just run on Facebook. We’ve also updated the copy of the reminder to read “Get ready to vote in the 2020 US Election. Register to vote or make sure your registration is correct. You can also share a post encouraging friends to do the same.” It will link to same place as before!   Second – I am very sorry for the technical difficulties we had on Friday’s Elections Integrity webinar. We are working to reschedule it and will let you know when we have a new date/time.         Eva Guidarini U.S. Politics & Government Outreach E: eguidarini@fb.com       From: Eva Guidarini Date: Friday, June 26, 2020 at 1:12 PM To: Khalid Pagan , Eva Guidarini Subject: New updates to help fight voter suppression and hate speech on Facebook   Hello,   I know y’all normally work with Khalid Pagan on the Facebook team – he is out of the office for the weekend and I wanted to pass along these updates – let us know if you have any questions, and I’ll circle back here with the full announcement once it goes live!   Our our CEO and founder, Mark Zuckerberg, will be making at 11am PT / 2pm ET in a livestream on his Facebook page here. We’re going to make new policy updates and product features to help fight voter suppression, hate speech, and connect as many people as possible with the latest accurate information about when and how to vote. Just last week, we announced the largest voter information campaign in American history to provide accurate information for voters about the elections and help people register and vote. This builds on the substantial investments we’ve made to prevent election interference, fight voter suppression, and help more people engage in the democratic process.   Today’s updates are part of the changes that Mark announced earlier this month across seven specific areas. They are also the direct result of the feedback and guidance we've received from the US civil rights community and our civil rights auditors over the course of the twoyear audit process. Their expertise and advocacy has been invaluable. We will continue seeking the guidance of the civil rights community as we do more of this work.   This also builds on progress we’ve made in reviewing reports of hate speech quicker than before, deleting more of it and doing it transparently. According to this week's report by the EU Commission, Facebook assessed 95.7% and Instagram assessed 91.8% of hate speech notifications in less than 24 hours, compared to 81.5% for YouTube and 76.6% for Twitter.
