They are dedicating a lot of resources toward monitoring and addressing the threats. Our data will be crucial in perfecting a federal reserved water right for the refuge. During a conference call yesterday, Region 2 wants us to directly load our water monitoring data into the water resources database as soon as possible (Monday if possible if any one is working that day). If so, please work with Darrell Kundargi on Monday to accomplish this. The objective is to weekly load up our monitoring data so a team of hydrologists can begin crunching the numbers to create deliverables to document the ongoing damage to our aquifer and to try and determine and depict the point at which such damage is essentially permanent can never be recharged.  We must be reaching our two week pressure transducer current condition baseline today or soon. It is important to get that data to Joaquin as soon as possible, and to begin releasing flow back into  refuge wetlands. All water levels, flow meters, and wells must be consistently and carefully monitored and recorded, as we have been doing. Juliette wants us to send her a weekly narrative that identifies “in fourth grade language,” a basic summary of noteworthy conditions. Things like: Pressure transducers were removed after recording well pressures over the past two weeks, and water flow was resumed in those ponds.  Twin-2 Pond went dry on December X.  Slaughter Ranch began using their new domestic well on December X following installation of a flow meter to measure water use. Note any natural observations like: Dead fish were found in Black Draw on X. Flood event on X removed all refuge wetlands in Hay Hollow Wash by covering them with silt. Contractors treated Geronimo Trail Road with dust control chemical on January X. Refuge staff are coordinating with AGFD and Phoenix Zoo to conduct emergency salvage of San Bernardino springsnails threatened by water drawdowns. You get the idea. Finally, please call Alan Finks and arrange installation of a flow meter and a pressure transducer and cable in their new well. It is the closest well to the Glenn Ranch Well and will be our best chance for monitoring impacts. He has previously offered this. I tried communicating with him earlier this week about monitoring without success. Region 2 is sending us the transducer and cable soon. The Slaughter Ranch well contractor could install the flow meter and just bill us directly. This will be crucial to any future legal action being discussed. Please download and send Joaquin the two-month historic Hay Hollow Well transducer data you recently located. I probably am forgetting something, but this covers most of what we were directed to do. Thank you for your help, Bill
