April 15, 2013 Board of County Commissioners 4430 South Adams County Parkway 5th Floor, Suite C5000A Brighton, CO 80601-8204 Dear Commissioners: Following lengthy discussions by the Adams County Criminal Justice Coordinating Committee regarding the Adams County Detention Facility and its staffing needs, the majority of our Committee recommends that the Board of County Commissioners provide funding to the Detention Facility to staff a total of 1255 beds, located in a total of 8 dorms, in an effort to alleviate, to the degree possible, the jail-wide bed shortage including the existing municipal court bed cap issue, under the circumstances existing upon the completion of the requested staffing. It is thought, with reasonable expectation, that staffing for 1255 beds would provide all jurisdictions with more available jail beds. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding our request. Sincerely, _____________________ C. Vincent Phelps, Chair Chief Judge, 17th Judicial District C.
