My Defensive Statement

Dear Ms. Williams:

Ms. Cole has rendered three accusations of wrongdoing against me and has submitted a signature
count that is tainted by cognitive bias known as The Halo Error or The Halo Effect/ The Horn Effect
Frederick L. Wells, 1902, E. L. Thorndike, 1920). 1 can only answer one, however, when I am restricted
by a 200- word parameter.
This, my response to the Petition to Recall, is my defensive statement to the accusation of
Malfeasance":

Malfeasance:

A document signed by Mayor/ Councilman Dodd and City Clerk Jeanette Williams dated 3/ 17/ 2020 at 2: 35
pm. It wasn' t in the agenda packet for the March 18, 2020 or the April 22, 2020 city council meetings. I
hadn' t seen that document until I reviewed the Judge Croom' s documents days later. I did not receive any
notice of the meeting being " Cancelled" or " Postponed".
I went to City Hall dressed and prepared for a city council meeting. I had the agenda for the April 22, 2020
meeting, my notes and several correspondences between Mr. Carlisle and me that supported my
expectations of a meeting to be held April 22, 29020. 1 did not receive information or notice about the
meeting being cancelled or postponed.
When I got to City Hall there were about 20 people waiting for the meeting to begin.

Mr. Gilliams opened

I and others entered. As I waited for others to arrive, I was

reading/ making notes relative to the agenda I had been sent. My waiting was not a manifestation of

malfeasance, but of growing uncertainty with respect to what was going on for the 7- 10 minutes we were
in the chamber.

Thank you for this opportunity to explain my position, my thoughts, and my actions.

I do believe this

explanation clears any misunderstanding that may exist with respect to my intent ... I am available for

share and would welcome my other two defensive statements. Further, I would appreciate additional
questions so that full understanding of the situation is open.
