Aloha Clerk Takahashi,

As many who know me are aware, I was raised by my grandparents, who are now in their

803. Together with my mom and dad, I kokua with my grandparents? various needs and errands,
and as such have arrived at the dif?cult decision to resign from the Honolulu City Council
effective at the adjournment of the September 23, 2020 10:00am Honolulu City Council
meeting.

It has been an honor and privilege to serve the people of the City and County of Honolulu as a
member of the Honolulu City Council; I send a sincere mahalo to the people of Windward O?ahu
for allowing me to represent them. Mahalo nui 10a to my wife Lisa and our four children-
Tianni, W, Kaleb and Kaili- for their love and support of my time in public service. Mahalo
piha to my staff members who have served alongside me in service to the people of our city- all
of you have become ?ohana over the years. I also extend my sincere appreciation and thanks to
my late friend, former Council Chair Barbara Marshall, for bringing me to Honolulu Hale with
her team in 2003 and presenting me this amazing opportunity to serve the people of Honolulu.
