Statement by City Attorney Mara W. Elliott on NBC False Story Retraction
“Our democracy is under attack from many directions, and reckless lies like this are designed to
undermine public trust. San Diegans deserve to know the truth about who was behind this smear
campaign, and how they got away with it for so long. My commitment has always been to defend
taxpayers and protect our city with reliable, principled leadership San Diego can count on – and
that will never change. 101 Ash was a done deal by the time I became City Attorney, but I am
now marshalling the full power of the City Attorney's Office to resolve this mess.”
