NW 56th Ter in reference to a mental health call Call notes adwsed the calling party's brother was haVing a mental health episode and was hitting himself I observed in preVIous events for this address that an officer had been out shortly before this call in reference to a Similar Situation The subject, later identified as Vl did not meet criteria to be taken into protective custody at that time Upon arrival, I contacted RP., who is the biological Sister of VI- She told me the followmg 'lives at this reSIdence With her and she takes care of him He is diagnosed With bipolar disorder and schizophrenia He had preVIously been prescribed medication for his conditions, but when he began to fell better and stop showmg he threw the medication away and stopped taking it. He lived in MeXIco where he was in a rehab faCIlity for the past year, and he returned to the United States apprOXImately one month ago He stopped taking his medications apprOXImately 3 weeks ago, and qUIckly began to fall back into the of his mental health conditions On this date, VI began talking to himself and yelling and screaming at people that were not even there He went into his bedroom and began kicking and punching the floor and walls He began yelling that RP?and his other family members were trying to hurt him, and that someone was trying to take his heart. VI - began violently hitting himself in the chest, saying people were trying to take his heart out RP-stated she attempted to stop him from hitting himself because she was worried he would seriously anUI?e himself, but he continued to hit himself RP.told me at the scene that she believed if we left and did not take Vl.in for treatment he would harm himself I waited until an additional officer arrived on scene, then I had RP-complete a third party statement, allowmg us to take Vl- into protective custody I placed VI . in handcuffs and in the back seat of my patrol car Without inCident.
