October 9, 2020 To: City Manager Rob Hunt MayorJose Sigala Tulare City Councilmembers From: Christopher Harrell Letter of Resignation I have been fortunate to have had the honor and privilege of being able to serve my fellow Tulare residents by being a part of our City's Board of Public Utilities. It is something that I would do in a heartbeat. I recognize, however, that under the current circumstances and the controversy which exists as related to me, I do not wish to place my fellow Board members and the men and women of our Public Works Department in a position where they are unable to perform theirjobs to the fullest due to the prospect of unwarranted distractions being placed upon them. I also wish to somehow do my part in stopping the unwarranted political pressure which is being fueled by certain politicians and by some of their supporters, who are now seizing upon the opportunity of intentionally trying to damage other people who are not connected in any way to my current situation. It is a disgrace that these individuals would utilize this situation as political fodder, and intentionally direct that at opponents of theirs who have no personal involvement in the situation. For these reasons, I reluctantly must step away from the City of Tulare's Board of Public Utilities and as its current Chairman. It is important in this regard for me to express to the great men and women of the Public Works Department that you will always have my support, and I will continue to admire all of the incredible work which you do for the citizens of Tulare. Through your efforts, you are truly setting up the City of Tulare for great things presently, as well as in the future, and lam confident that you shall continue to do so. It is important for me to express my deep sadness for those persons who are suffering the unwarranted attacks as related to these circumstances. I hope and pray that in the end, rational people shall be able to see through the unconscionable political plays in which certain particular individuals are engaged. I hereby respectfully resign as Commissioner and President of the Board of Public Utilities. My hope is that the Mayor and the City Council will understand the spirit upon which my resignation is based. It remains my hope for the future to be able once again to serve the City of Tulare. Sincerely, - i .51; If! Christopher Harrell
