Mr Barnier is deeply upset by the allegations made against him, which he wholeheartedly refutes.
Exhaustive investigations have found no wrongdoing by Mr Barnier.
Mr Barnier is disappointed that witnesses who can attest to the true nature of the events and
conversations in relation to these false allegations have not been included in reports.
While Mr Barnier cannot comment on the Government’s process for awarding tenders, he can
confirm the Department of Health engaged him based on his unique skills and experience in the aged
care sector.
Mr Barnier’s current work with the Government is focused on providing advice on identifying
residential aged care providers in financial distress, determining the causes of this distress,
recommending solutions, and building ongoing capability within Government to better identify
providers at risk of failure.
Over the past decade, Mr Barnier has devoted his career to improving aged care for residents and
their families, and he remains committed to this cause.
